Hi,

on a whim I emptied a couple of surplus-to-requirements handwarmers into a small jam-jar. The intention being to play with it in some more accessible way. However I now find it will form a skin as it cools which means it is always crystallizing by itself 🙁

Do I need to add a dash of water to replace what escaped when I opened the handwarmers and poured the hot liquid?

What can I do with it next, apart from sticking my finger in the liquid and triggering it to crystallize over my finger?

😀

You could try and taste* it and then never touch salt and vinegar crisps again 😆

*Please don't, we use 3M sodium acetate and that tastes ridiculously strong as it is, I can't imagine how bad it would be at that strength.

Would adding a little water prevent it self-crystallizing, do you think?

Do you need some sort of diaphragm over the top to block access to air? I don't think those hand warmers have any air in them.

Clingfilm applied directly to the surface might work to stop it crystallising.
