That show last night was proper good I thought.
Dave won, I like Dave, but not really thrilled by him.
Showed music's in a pretty good state.
Had Black Midi on my radar for a while, would love to see them live after that bonkers performance.

Get slagging!

I’m in love with Cate Le Bon. Win or lose this hasn’t changed anything for us.

Lucky Cate 🙂

I've just found Black Midi are playing a little club down the road just after my birthday next year. Tickets purchased 😀

It was an eclectic mix of talent that’s for sure.

The lad who came on holding an effigy of Boris’s head won it for me.

I caught a few of the performances - thought Cate Le Bon's vocals were off. Black Midi were not trying to make them selves accessible, fantastic 😁. Need to go a find this Dave fella, should like he's got some good stuff to listen to. Laving a message is great, I hope it's musical too. Really thought Idles were going to get it after that performance though, the crowd were loving it.

Didn’t catch it last night. Pleased for Dave - Psychodrama is an excellent album. Hard to believe it’s written by someone who hadn’t even reached 21. Saw him in Bristol earlier in the year. Must watch it on catch up this evening.

Maybe I'm old, but I thought the vast majority of what I saw (which wasn't all of it) was utter tosh! I missed Foals, which was a shame as I like them, I liked Dave's performance, but the rest? If that's the best new music there's not much hope!

best new music

IMO if you don't know a song, it can be difficult to get the best of a live performance - especially when the performances are so charged up as I saw last night. The ones I saw were generally not playing their most accessible/popular song.

Maybe go to Spotify and listen to the "most played" track from each album to get a between introduction.

I really liked Black Midi. They were great.

Don't understand the 1975 love in. They're just beige nothing pop to me very Coldplay and didnt deserve a nomination imo.

Though Cate le bon wasn't much cop either. But i'll reserve judgment as BBC levels always seem shit to me. Vocals always seem too low.

Have to agree, but the kidz seem to love them in their bland mediocrity. Nice that there's room for middle-of-the-road, derivative pop blandness in amongst the new and exciting stuff 🙂

I thought Fontaines DC might have snatched it

You sound like a few people I work with.

Complete the hat trick and say "There's nothing decent on the telly any more" 🙂 🙂

I'm pretty glad there's still music that can polarise opinion. If everything was like The 1975, what a state we'd be in.
Mostly glad, cos the day after the TV performance, I can still get tickets for someone like Black Midi for £14, at a small venue up the road. That's blimmin great, that is.

would love to see them live after that bonkers performance.

Seen them live three times now, been incredibly weird, different and amazing every time. Do it! 🙂
