It's been in the Ski & Snowboard thread for a while, but well worth a bigger audience!

Awesome. Love the jumps from the piste over the fences and the chairlift jump!

At 4.16 wow. Strikes me as that could be his first run at it too.

How much is faked/cgi/flying drone footage and how much is real?

How did he do the scene where he puts his goggles on in front on the mirror, without the gopro being shown in the mirror?

I doubt any of its CGI, it is Candide Thovex.....he's been doing this stuff since he was an embryo. 😯

The camera doesn't have to be a gopro though. I reckon it'll be a small bullet cam under his hat.

Awesome, some next level POV.

How did he do the scene where he puts his goggles on in front on the mirror, without the gopro being shown in the mirror?

The area of video in the mirror is a different video, they most likely filmed it from the mirrors angle and used that footage inside the clip of the guy looking in the mirror (rather than hide a really small bullet cam under his hat ;))

Real?

I think the fact that the landing tend to match the pre-existing tracks and the other skiers hardly react is a bit of a give away. Fun video nonetheless.

It's faked. Just like the moon landings. THEY just don't want you to know how.

I one jumped over a ski school ( by mistake) with a well known 80s GB downhiller at Le Fornet. Their reaction (and subsequent chase by the instructor) was v different!

fake or not, it's quite awesome. Several lines there that made me think "this'll never end well"

I was in Les Arcs when a big comp was on and Candide got in the Transarc bubble I was in and rode to mid station. Watched him straight line a massive hip, hitting it like a kicker and flying about 10 feet higher than and over the promo banners on the deck, before landing on the backside - everyone else hipped about half way down it.

No doubt the lines are real. Some good editing like the mirror shot.

Its not fake. However he would have sessioned every one of those tricks many times before pulling it all together in a video and built those ramps/kickers before hand - just like all ski/board/MTB vids. Also it will be a composite of a number of runs over sections shot on different days rather than one continuous run. They look good because its not the first time they've done it. Its all carefully choreographed.

The mirror footage is two different shots; stills show that his hands go out of sync in the mirror and first person view. I'm pretty sure the birds and people on the chairlift are comped in too, but the stunts are real. Loads of videos out there show he's certainly a good enough skier, and freeride world champs courses are as ludicrous as some of that off piste stuff. Love his combo of park skills with off piste skiing.
