A former colleague who is with DWP has pointed me to the mental health support service they use to help people stay in work.

I'm obviously "somewhat" cynical about any private services arranged as part of a government scheme, but things are building to a head again at work so just curious if anyone has dealt with them as either the employer or the staff member.

My employer does the same scheme. I've been working on it today actually.

I am a little tight for time now, but I could post some stuff about it here later - or maybe message me so I don't have to worry about what I write?

From a quick look around their website I would say you ate right to be cynical.  Looks to me like a service fir employers to be able to claim that they offer MH support

Take up the offer with an open mind and maybe we are being too cynical.

It very carefully does not state their " vocational rehabilitation consultants"  are licensed psychotherapists only that they are " mental health professionals"

But as above.  Maybe i am too cynical

With all psychotherapy its the theraputic relationship between the two of you that is key.  I also need face to face contact tho videocalling will work.

If you want the name of the therapist i used pm me

I've already messaged with OP, but just for TJ (and anyone else interested) - these schemes don't offer therapy or counselling.

They are more like an OH function, advising employers on what they can do to make workplace adjustments for people with MH conditions - and helping employees with coping strategies.

The DWP funds them because it sees value in being proactive and stopping people falling out of work, where it might have been avoidable.

I've referred/ signposted (Occ Health Nurse) a couple of people to them. Seems to work well for the people I  sent that way, as above, not counselling/ therapy but work with employee and employer to try keep them in work amd advise on adjustments.
