BIL had surgery to pin femur last Friday.

He had a CT yesterday as his foot was swollen. Clot in calf diagnosed (no infection) sent home with meds.

Foot has worsened today.

Would you say he should go back to get this checked out even though he was in just yestrday?

Yeah get those toenails sorted asap. Then tell him to ring 111.

In fairness they should have told him what to do if it worsened, and how long any improvement should take.

Was the CT yesterday done via Fracture Clinic ? I would be ringing them to see what they say. or go direct to the Consultant Surgeon's secretary asap they are very helpful.

Its much better to go back in via direct access to the specialty than have to go via A&E

However if you feel you have no alternative ie no way of contacting and you think the condition has got worse then go to A&E. Do not bother with 111.

I would absolutely post on the internet to ask before ringing the doctor, guaranteed to work!

I've nothing to add medically, but I've seen prettier things at the bottom of the ocean...

*sucks air though teeth*

Looks like it needs taking off at hip level

(Hope you’ve taken the advice from the professionals above and get to ED)

My hospital has a DVT fast track process for things like this. Heparin jabs with six hours of speaking to my GP.

No need for A&E. GP prescribed barrier cream and analgesia.
