Hi
say you were doing indoor hockey (short explosive sprints and stops) and on a very hard stop there was a distinct 'ping' feeling from your weight bearing foot (roughly middleish at front) and it felt 'different' afterwards - any ideas. I wouldn't call it sore I just 'notice' when I use it now as oppossed to not noticing before (*possibly as I know I injured it).
(I'm awaiting till next Thursay to get a non emergency appointment)
thanks
probably some tendon damage.
My wife did a tendon in her foot stopping quickly when running at BMF. The 'ping' was so loud all the people around her heard it, though.
Do you not have a Minor Injuries Unit or Walk in Centre near you, they're there for just such things.
Have you just done it?
I jumped down from 3ft without shoes 3 weeks ago. Yep I'm a tard. My mid-sole seemed to do this high pitched click thing (as both my hips do sometimes) thought walking on it for the next couple of hours would keep it free.
Next day I couldn't put any weight through it at all.
Managed to take the pooch for a short walk for the first time yesterday. Common martial arts injury apparantly. Silly ninjas
Does it hurt most when you get out of bed and put weight on it first thing?
May well be plantar fascitis.... look it up online. Quite common in activities requiring shorts burst of intense exercise.
Unfortunately can take a while to heal as that muscle is under constant tension. Get some good supportive shoes (or an insert) and build up the activity levels gently (no more explosions!) until its better.
I did it a while ago, doesn't really hurt most at any time but when I spoke to a mate who'd collapsed an arch he said it required an insert and physio.....
Will have a look for a walk in though, didn't know about that
Is there a 'proper name' for the inserts so I can google
Thanks to all
An orthotic? 'plantar fascitis orthotics' should do it. You can actually buy them from Boots in the footcare section.
Have had mixed reports - One friend (marathon runner) swore by them when she developed PF but another friend (overdid return to football) found it made it worse.
