I'm off with Ton and an unknown group of Sweary Northerners for a week long tour of the Inner Hebrides.

Here's a link so you can come along too.

We catch the ferry over to Arran on the 6th so we'll be on an island somewhere thereafter. I'm following the guys, if there's a headwind, I've bagged Ton's wheel. You headed that way too?

Not sure. No fixed plans as yet, but have an old friend arriving from Bermuda at some point over the weekend.

I'd be more likely to join in an evening of boozing than riding this weekend 🙂

The journal is great, I'm enjoying this a spectator and simultaneously planning a escape back to the Western Isles.

Thanks for sharing!

Sumo contests in the evening ?

I've only heard the briefest of descriptions of this, I believe it's somewhere on YouTube. Conniston Sumo?

Jeez, how much ale can these guys get through and still ride?

Day four and they're still standing.

Photo's now or the big bloke gets it!

Excellent commentary Mac, wish I was there. I've had to put your page on my bookmarks to save searching on here for it!

The incompetence on the pic uploads isn't the big man's fault, that numptyness is entirely of my own making.

He was asking after you though.

Cheers guys, I will get the pics up when I get home tomorrow.

I've still to add the story of how Noggin convinced an American that Ton is the undisputed grizzly bear wrestling champion of Wakefield.

What an awesome week. Thanks to Ton for the invitation, if he ever asks you out on a ride with these guys, don't hesitate to join them.

I've added my pics to the blog, and I will add the other guys too when the forward them. My camera was in my jersey pocket in a dry bag but I think the lens may have had some condensation on it on some pics. They give you a flavour of the trip.

Fantastic stuff. My folks own the shop in Ardfern a couple of miles north of Ford. It's great to see this part of the world from a bike

the trip was crap, the ale was rubbish, fried animal flesh is bad for you, midges drove me wild, the locals talk a funny language, my bum hurts from a weeks riding (fnnarr fnnarr).

so when are we going again Moonter............. 😆

oh, and I have a ton of photo's to add once my drowned phone starts to work.

Ace! Brought back some memories - also really enjoyed that!

I like the fact that someone has painted out the apostrophe in the 'Cyclists' sign 😆

Good sunday morning read, beats depressing myself reading the papers

Will add it to my never ending list of places to ride - again I find myself wishing I could win the lottery just so I could spend my time powering myself around the world on two wheels and living with the very bare essentials -ok I would treat myself to some very expensive lightweight stuff, but it still seems and odd wish

It's pouring down outside as i read your tour report. Im sat here drinking coffee and eating cake rather than going for a ride. What a poof, call myself a northerner, I feel ashamed. Thanks i enjoyed reading that. 😀
