Looking at selling my Octavia VRS and buying something with a higher driving position like a CX5.
Took one for a test drive today and really liked it.
Anyone run one on here ?
Does anyone know if Mazda still have issues with DPF systems on later cars. This one was a 2018 18 plate pre adblue.
Thanks.
Had one (sport nav diesel), got rid of it and got an octavia and have never wished I still had the Mazda. Mine didn't have the oil level issue but wanted frequent oil changes, the dpf regen kills the fuel economy and one of my led headlights failed (in warranty) and I had to wait about 2 months for a spare, they were going to leave me driving on one light until I kicked off with mazda uk. Oh and there was a problem with the car/phone connection (due to WiFi channel selection) which I had to raise through mazda UK too as the dealer wouldn't accept that there was an issue despite it being a known issue and them doing a recall for it a few months later.
Ah... That doesn't sound good !!
Had a late 2013 2.2d SportNav as a company car. It was great. Roomy, high driving position, very well specced, economical. Really couldn’t fault it. 2 other members of my team chose one on my recommendation and one of them replaced it with another.
Got a 2016 2L petrol CX5 (no idea model... Something something nav). Like it.. Not very exciting but does the job. Loads of boot space and bikes fit easily with wheels still on once seats down. The in-car entertainment system is good but sometimes randomly restarts (ones pre 2015 had a godawful system I thankfully don't have)!
Seats aren't as comfy as our old Volvo S60 but pretty decent still. Not particularly fast to accelerate either, but that's due to the non-turbo petrol engine, so if you are looking at diesel then probably not an issue. Suspension is good compared to most other SUVS, with way less wobble and decent cornering.
Had it a few years,,bought with 23k miles on clock, and it's only still got 30k on it. Fitted some Michelin cross climate SUV tyres last year which are great, and have had to replace all pads/discs...but apart from that it's fine. Not exciting or sexy but does the job. MOT next month so will see if anything crops up..
Had one, and thought it was just fine. Might not be an X-3 but it was half the price.
If you are looking at the 2.2ltr turbo diesel Sky active engine then I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
DPF issues, engine oil level issues, they eat cam chains for fun (18000 miles in my case from new chains fitted to needing more new ones) injectors are weak, wheel bearings are weak, plus depending on trim level the infotainment system is poor. Mine kept dropping Bluetooth and couldn't find any radio stations.
It is indeed the 2.2 skyactiv diesel.
Might give it a swerve then
I currently have a 68 plate cx5 now as a company car. Awful car IMO. Uncomfortable, loud road noise (although possibly tyre specific), really poor mpg for a slow diesel. And the infotainment system is so extremely complicated I don’t bother using it really. When setting the sat nav, I keep thinking there’s about 10 too many unnecessary buttons to press to get it going. Another example, when changing the radio station, it always defaults to the beginning of the selection list. Absolute sh1te!
On cold mornings it takes 10/15 minutes to demist which is another frustration. I’ve never known a car actually have water droplets on the interior of the windscreen.
It’s a big car but it somehow feels cramped in side.
My phone never stays connected to the Bluetooth either, which is not a problem with my phone on my wife’s car.
I do however like the size of the boot.
Hope you like my review.
had one as a company car from 2018-2020. None of the above issues, drove nicely and was high up/comfortable.
If your looking for a review telling you about weak wheel bearings (LMAO) and oil issues go elsewhere. But it had heated seats and steering which madeit great in my book.
Test drove the 2l (I think) petrol auto about 2 years ago. Nice to sit in but horrible to drive with a terrible auto box. Mate has the 2l diesel and likes it.
Had a 65 plate diesel. It developed an engine issue that they claimed was not emissions related & would need a £4k repair at just about 4 yrs old despite having only just been in for a de-coke because of dpf problems.
On a lighter note all my bluetooth issues were solved with a firmware update, the satnav is utter shite though.
A friend has a petrol & has had no problems, they’re not available in AWD though.
