Who takes an 80k car to one of those £5 hand car washes? 😯

No wonder the guy run away, though. She looks ready to murder someone...

What did he use to wash the car with anyway? A wire brush?

EDIT: Oh hang on, that's just dust from the crash isn't it? 😳

I had some sympathy untill I read that it was a birthday present.

That says something bad about me I guess.

Someone who didn't pay for it themselves...

Jessica was given the five-year-old car as a 30th birthday present last December by her mum, who is company director of their family’s telecommunications firm.

Nepotism?

£80k birthday present from her mum/boss who gave her a job in the family firm because she (looks) too stupid to carve out her own career in the big bad world.

I was stuck in traffic outside a hand car wash the other night. Signs all over saying no rollers, no brushes etc but from what I could see they were washing cars with sponges (a big no-no if you want to preserve your paintwork), drying them with chammy leathers (again, no) and spraying what I assume was something like Mr Sheen all over the cars.

Want to car for an expensive car? Either pay someone who knows what they're doing to wash it or do it yourself. Its not difficult...

Nepotism? No. I'm sure she got the job purely on merit, and all the people working with her as their boss, not only view her with the greatest of respect, but like her on a personal level too.

Certainly None of them will presently have that second picture as their desktop wallpaper

If it was five years old then it would be circa 30k not 80k.

If it were £30K and insurance company shelling out £48K to fix it = Don't compute.

The cynic in me is just screaming insurance fraud. Who the **** takes a car like that to a hand car wash - just doesn't stack up.

Of course the explanation is likely to be entirely innocent but having worked in insurance so long I just can't help myself.

Cheers

Na i've been looking at these with the FIL and even the 8-9 year old ones are only just dropping below the £30k mark. Hell of a lot of car for that money though! Did see one with a parrot handsfree kit fitted on the dash... Did take the shine off somewhat!

Obviously in a rough state now, & She's in need of a bit of work, but should do up ok.

Likewise the car.

For those saying you shouldn't take a car like that to a hand car wash... Well, you might. But not one in Cheetham Hill! Has she never watched Ferris Beullers Day Off? Clearly not! 😉

The answer to that, thankfully for me, is almost everyone who owns one.

Although most of them would have the sense to use a proper valeter who's trained and knows what they are doing.

My insurance would have paid out no problem on that, so I wouldn't be denying all knowledge like the cowboy owner of that place. I'm covered to drive any vehicle up to a max value of £350,000.00 😀

My favourite quote from the comments section.

The car washer/valeter was probably an illegal immigrant or benefit cheat and that`s why he legged it

We have only started on the driver so far.

Great news for you then. I was seriously under the impression that part of the joy of owning a really nice car was being able to wax and polish it and admire its shininess, before taking it back out and driving the nuts off of it (up to whatever local speed limit is of course)

The insurance company have been amazing and have paid out – but the owner of the car wash has refused to admit responsibility.

How does that work then?

'Yes officer, it was just like in that movie, Christine. The radio came on, and the lights came on, then it just, just, it just came alive. Honestly, officer.'

Give it a rest... I could walk into a garage tomorrow with a suitcase full of cash and walk out with one of those if I wanted to. But I wouldn't. I wouldn't touch a Bentley, even with yours...

Stupidity just annoys me...

He said: 'I was filling up and then I saw the car coming towards me

I bet the fuel in it alone was worth more than the corsa. Also who paid for the fuel drawn at the pump? 😀

To do it properly takes hours though (10+ for a full detail) and a lot of people don't have the time, even if they wanted to (most don't really want to either)

A lot of my customers would rather be at work earning (in the Bentley or whatever) while I'm at their house detailing the Ferrari ready for them to use at the weekend.

They earn massively more per hour than they pay me, so it makes sense to use my time while they are at work earning I suppose.

I don't think I've spent 10 hours cleaning a car in total over my whole life.

Neither have most of my customers 🙂

The longest detailing job I've done so far was three full days (24+ hours)
Full paint correction and Detail/Valet.
