Hi all.
I’m on a Sky Q hub/router with Sky TV etc. All our internet devices (PC via Ethernet, TV, phones Hive etc) all work fine (barring poor wifi coverage sometimes) with no issues apart from when we try to use Zoom on ANY device. iPad, PC, it loads up and won’t get any further then the “connecting you to the meeting” bit. The host of the meeting lets us in but we can’t get it if you see what I mean.
I’ve tried everything. Updated PC/IPad, reset router, checked router settings etc.
Thing is - it used to work early in lockdown, but all of sudden it doesn’t any more and I can’t figure it out. Most of the time I can spend a few hours googling and I’ll bumble my way through to a fix for most tech stuff but this is plain weird.
Any ideas?
One thing we've noticed is it doesn't auto update and there have been some pretty big jumps in versions over the last few months, is the app/client up to date on all your devices?
If it is, then if you go to their site and login does that work?
This worked for me. I am talkTalk though, & I was having problems with teamviewer.
For any device that has both Wifi and 4G (e.g iPhone), does it work when not on Wifi - turn off Mobile Data and Wifi in turn and try.
Some ISPs offer web filtering that affects access to some (ahem) sites - I doubt they've chuffed it up at their end for something as ubiquitous as Zoom, but probably worth asking them if you fancy a ride through their technical support process.

Your thread title says it won't work on Wi-Fi and your OP says it won't work on anything. Which is it, does a hard-wired connection work or not?
Cougar - apologies, to be clear it won't work on any devices on wifi. It works fine on 4G on my phone or if I tether the iPad to the phone and turn off the wifi on both devices.

No I don't think that worked.
OK I've done another test. I hosted a meeting on my PC, ethernet connection. I joined with my mobile on 4g, that worked ok. I then got a friend to join from his house PC, worked fine. So I tried it back the other way, he started a meeting but I couldn't join it.
So basically I can't join other peoples meetings via our wifi/ethernet connections. On any device

At least I'm not alone but thats not promising is it?
I had a recent problem playing FH4 on my PC and it took me about 6 hours of googling before I found the answer which only a few people had figured out how to fix. This has stumped me for far longer!
Question: does it work on your Wifi with other devices? I’m guessing not since you describe tethering the iPad but it wasn’t clear.
So if it works on 4g but not on your network; there are two options I think, something weird at your local level and something weird at the ISP level.
I think the ISP level is unlikely - Sky are a major provider and if they were blocking Zoom it’d be big news.
Do you run any weird software, any weird network config etc? Non-standard DNS servers, non-standard IP addresses assignment on your LAN, ad blocking etc etc?
The next thing you might try is manually adjusting the port-forwarding settings. Zoom uses specific ports and it’s possible that your router is blocking them. There are instructions on the zoom website as to which ports need forwarding.
Does the Sky router box have an option to reset to default settings?
Have you ever changed any of the defaults ?
Is it on the latest firmware version ?
Another issue we have which my wife has just reminded us about, she can’t seem to FaceTime with her dad on her phone while connected to wifi.
Could lots of small thing internet drop outs cause this? I have a feeling that is what is happening but I can’t find a programme that will monitor drop outs over a few hours for example - any ideas?
I doubt it - unless it's dropping out every few seconds which seems like it would be unusable for anything let alone just Zoom and FaceTime.
Your router may have a broadband 'uptime' displayed somewhere in the settings. alternatively, Sky should be able to tell you if there's a problem with your line and frequent dropouts. But that seems unlikely.
Try the port forwarding thing. I'll bet FaceTime and Zoom use similar protocols/ports and they're getting blocked by your LAN.

100 percent guarantee it will be this.
Used to happen a lot with online games until routers became a bit less dumb - early to mid 2000's in my teens were spent constantly dealing with BSoDs and port issues.
