No way he should have went over this matter.
Really.
- really ?
This is the icing on the cake. This isn't how ever incompetence like the rest. It's deliberate ignorance of his own rules .
Live by sword die by sword.
Bye.
So in the midst of a global pandemic, on the eve of the third wave hitting we are without anyone 'running' the Department of Health. This is way beyond a joke.
I bet Boris is annoyed that he has lost his scapegoat before he outlived his usefulness.
That's my first thought at hearing he's resigned.
The second is who does Boris put there in his place? Someone remotely competent or someone else who can take the blame in a few years? One thing that is guaranteed though, there won't be a rush of applicants for that poisoned chalice!
we are without anyone ‘running’ the Department of Health
Javid is in, please keep up.
No way he should have went over this matter.
So you're OK with every aspect of his behaviour?
As jenrick was asked in last evening's Any Questions after yet more of his weasel words - what does a minister have to do to be sacked from this cabinet?
Moving on from that, javid must be desperate to have accepted to role; what a hero! Or probably not; just another compliant sycophant for johnson to play with.
Am I right in thinking Javid resigned as he wouldn't let Cummings dictate who his advisers were?
Bit surprised he's stepped back in now, had him down as another "keeping out of it ahead of the next leadership campaign" like Hunt.
He’ll be more competent … at making sure the NHS budget is a cash cow for those backing him and his party with the illusion of arm length decision making. The obvious ripe corruption will diminish, but the money will keep flowing out of a health system that really needs it. Read up on his past record on this. He’ll keep ****ing over the NHS, but in ways that’ll take real investigation years later to uncover, rather than Hancock’s very basic contracts for close contacts approach.
Ta dah Matty, you won't be missed. Don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out. Now **** off you ineffectual little crook.
One down..... oh bloody hell, how many to go...?
Right, someone needs to blow the Gove thing wide open. But they'll face the wrath of Murdoch if they do...
Javed. Deutschebank, wasn't it?
He'll bleed the NHS dry for sure, but more slowly and carefully - which buys more time for the grownups to get rid of these bloodsucking bastards.
<Dreams>
Nah, Daz from Dagenham thinks Bozza is a lad and the NHS is for bedwetters and forrin freeloaders.
Still, nice to see one odious shit get his marching orders at least.
I prefer Matt Hancock to Sajid Javid. And I really don't like Matt Hancock.
Sajid Javid is a quisling imo. Anything to satisfy Tory bigots.
A fair few similarities with Priti Patel.
Resigning over a scandal? that’s refreshing.
Hancock has proved his worth as a Useful robot, he’ll be reinstated after 2024 as minister for ‘who ever causes the next sackable offence’
Really.
Yup
Can’t see it as any worse that the first minister and her face mask fiasco
I wouldn't be surprised if Bozo asked him to fall on his sword today after Bozo saying nothing to see here yesterday. Probably promised him another cabinet job in a year if he went of his own accord (had to go of his own accord as Bozo would have had a cheek sacking him for dipping his wick and he(Bozo) knew it)
I ran a business with my girlfriend who became my wife. The most business efficient collaboration I’ve ever worked in. In every business I’ve worked for, couples, whether official or not were extremely productive working with a complicity and efficiency well above the norm in the interests of the company.
There are always exceptions, though in my experience it almost always a disruption and causes back biting and cliques amongst colleagues. There’s always accusations of favouritism, whether true or not, which ultimately affects productivity. Additionally, as a participant I think you’re unlikely to admit that it caused issues, even if you were aware.
Ignoring his transgression, was yours a straight forward relationship? You mention that your ran a business together, which suggests a level of equality within the workplace. Is that a fair assumption? Im fairly certain you are not a member of parliament and Secretary of State for Health during the world’s biggest and most serious health crisis in living memory? I don’t think we’re comparing apples, are we?
He should’ve been concentrating on his job and ensuring his own family were safe.
The relationship is a distraction - for all we may know both wronged spouses may have given them their blessing.
It's whether the relationship was abused to get her a job, or award contracts etc.
I think there must be something wrong with me - I almost feel sorry for the little twerp. I’m sure I’ll get over it.
which suggests a level of equality within the workplace.
I always got to clean the bog but yup, we even took in turns to be gérant and gérant associé.
In Hancocks (ex) job I think ensuring the British population were safe (including his family) should have been his priority. I really don't think a quick grope and snog made him any less efficient. On the basis of people I've worked with, as everybody knew the score favouritism would have been harder rather than easier - no favours were gained. hancock though... . Some places have a corrupt corporate culture and otheres don't.
A couple of Madame's colleagues are now properly a couple, nobody is in the slightest bit bothered. I'd say it's a cultural thing but when I worked in the UK I had colleagues gently suggesting I get together with a colleague who apparently fancied me, they meant well but she wasn't my type, it certainly wasn't taboo. That was the early 80s though.
Reports coming in that he’s “left his wife, within an hour of telling her”.
He’s still a lying little shit. Good on her.
Is there an injunction on the (alleged) Gove story, or just no juicy pics to make it worth running?
Funny that you never get, say, the Sun reporting that a journalist at the Mail is carrying on with the intern or something similar? No journalist has ever been unfaithful?
Javid is in, please keep up.
Arse. We're ****ed.
Funny that you never get, say, the Sun reporting that a journalist at the Mail is carrying on with the intern or something similar?
Surely that down to two things:
A. The general public wouldn’t know who the person being outed is, in most cases. (Be no different to reporting about an affair in the plumbers merchant down the rd really)
B. An unwritten rule of not completely shafting each other, neither wants an arms race trying to spank the other. Not when they can go after a common enemy.

Left his wife within an hour of telling her, for someone they’ve both been friends with for nearly 25 years. While apparently this is a recent thing I bet there are several people wondering if it’s been going on that long.
He apparently woke his 8yo up to tell them he was off.
His fancy piece has also been pictured packing her stuff into her car with her husband looking on.
I feel really sorry for his wife, her husband and their kids.
Any of us on STW could shout about govey govey's (alleged) infidelity but no-one would listen.
Diane Abbott using her media following to get the message out makes it just a little more difficult to ignore.
I saw the guardian article which referred to hancock leaving his wife - and family.
Question here is, I think, how much does Mrs Gina's husband want her back?
He has money; hancock doesn't.
He, presumably, has public support but neither his wife nor hancock do.
Would hancock's wife have him back?
What future will hancock have when his performance and honesty will be exposed in the covid public enquiry?
Note to matty - next time if there is one, make sure it's worthwhile when you bend or ignore the rules as this one wasn't worth it.
Further note to matty, don't get caught.
Murdoch press out to destroy Hancock
https://twitter.com/doctor_oxford/status/1408836391505645575?s=19
Headache for Johnson
He initially backed him
That covid inquiry can't come soon enough (sadly it'll be years away)
Short memories
Wonder if the Gove/Cummings affair rumours will turn out to be true after all! 😂

Late to the thread, and maybe it's been said already:
There's a lot of "I feel sorry for his wife comments" why? She was married to a Tory politician, this kind of behavior goes with the territory.
Once all those commissions are in he'll be dripping in it. You don't actually think he gave ginormous amounts of taxpayers' money to the testube specialist pub landlord, friends, rellies, donors out of magnanimous munificence do you? Johnson wants this matter closed as it could be, but unlikely, a gathering shitstorm. I think the only way we can get an inkling is by reading the foreign press, Jolyon Maugham seems to be the only one trying to hold them to account.
I prefer Matt Hancock to Sajid Javid. And I really don’t like Matt Hancock.
Same. He had to go though based not only breaking rules he hand a hand in but after the comments he made last year about another person doing pretty much the same.
Some people may think so what (if they ignore all the potential dogginess about Gina employment) but they would also think so what about anyone else breaking cover restrictions I suppose.
Is there going to be a class action type thing where anyone fined for anything Covid related over the last 18 months can just apologies and get their money back...
Apologies is this has been done, ive not read the entire thread.
I have to admit the first thought I had when I saw the footage was that it was fake. It doesn't even look like Hancock to me. Just a close resembling actor, and the biggest thing of all, WHY IS CCTV FOOTAGE SO SHAKEY? the camera is moving all over the place!
WHY IS CCTV FOOTAGE SO SHAKEY? the camera is moving all over the place!
Because the leaked video is from someone using their phone to film the footage off a monitor.
WHY IS CCTV FOOTAGE SO SHAKEY?
I expect it isn't THE footage - as in someone has taken the file off the CCTV system's computers. The person leaking the footage has filmed the CCTV screen with their phone
EDIT - well done for having faster fingers than me on a Sunday morning. Your turn to make the coffee
The highlight in the whole sorry saga for me.... Yesterday my gf had to explain to her 85 year old mum, in Tesco, exactly what the grainy image on the front of the Sun was, and who the people in it were, and what all the fuss was about. To which she replied "Liam Dutton would never do a thing like that".
Because the leaked video is from someone using their phone to film the footage off a monitor
makes more sense. Still think the "actors" look very fake.
Still think the “actors” look very fake.
Have you seen Matt Hancock doing absolutely anything and it not look like the result of bad acting?

There’s a lot of “I feel sorry for his wife comments” why? She was married to a Tory politician, this kind of behavior goes with the territory.
I have no idea what the stats say, or if they even exist, but I wouldn't assume that infidelity among Tory politicians is higher than in the general population. In fact my suspicion is that, for several reasons, it is probably lower.
Look at pictures of the two together. He is at least 4 inches taller than her, maybe more.
Then look at the cctv again.
No chance the pictures / video are faked, that would have been an easy denial and done, plus maybe a lucrative court case.
Unless Hancock himself was in on the fakery himself, which would be a very interesting conspiracy theory, publishing fake photos and releasing fake videos is likely to cost the Sun very huge amounts of money.
No chance the pictures / video are faked, that would have been an easy denial and done, plus maybe a lucrative court case.
Unless Boris has something bigger to hold over him, and this is being used as a way to get him to resign without leaking the real info that maybe implicates other cabinet members.
The matter was closed anyway.
He had the full backing of the PM so there’s no need he would have to go.(well other than the fact he was the face and voice of public distancing, there was no chance he could ever go back on ta telly after this)
If the video was faked he’d be quids in and er not leaving his wife.
Unless Boris has something bigger to hold over him, and this is being used as a way to get him to resign without leaking the real info that maybe implicates other cabinet members.
Hmm it’s all pretty much in plain sight.
How big does it have to be, ripping off his mask to expose the lizards living amongst us 🙂
It is a shame that Johnson hasn't had to fire him because of the reasons I outlined above.
"So, Prime Minister, what did you sack him for?"
Any explanation leads on to obvious questions that compare his behaviour with at least one other cabinet member and more often than not Johnson himself.
Hancock will be back. No way he would have resigned without compo. He's an experienced turncoat and opportunist.
Lucky bugger, he got to resign to save glorious leader, after a year in the wilderness he’ll be back to reap even greater rewards.
It doesn’t even look like Hancock to me. Just a close resembling actor
It doesn’t sound like him either to me. I’d swear that it was the voice of Steve Coogan doing Alan Partridge.
Have I got news for you, bravo. "BREAKING: Matt Hancock praised for dedication to social distancing guidelines after nobody turns up to his leaving drinks."
Unless Boris has something bigger to hold over him, and this is being used as a way to get him to resign without leaking the real info that maybe implicates other cabinet members.
Yes, all consistent with the theory that Boris is a Russian stooge, I mean 'Boris', come on, talk about obvious clues. Clearly this whole thing is a KGB/FSB set-up and it's not inconceivable that this so-called mistress is a Russian agent herself, a classic 'honey trap'.
Funny that Gina Coladangelo's surname is a weird mix of Coca Cola and Michelangelo, just the sort of thing that a KGB handler might slyly concoct after an evening out watching a Gina Lollobrigida film at the Moscow Odeon. Funny too that there seems precious little evidence of her existence pre-Oxford.
It would be classic spycraft to enmesh an obviously brilliant rising star like Hancock - talented, enigmatic, handsome and charismatic - in a web of deception so as to be able to influence him at a moment of their choosing. My take would be that Hancock rumbled the whole thing - how Boris, like Murdoch, is a clumsy, malfunctioning android directly controlled by Putin's FSB and was set to reveal the truth.
Emphatically not a conspiracy theorist here. Do your own research.
Hahah - Clevery got seriously owned over that stupid tweet:
https://twitter.com/UkSleepwalker/status/1408893566013919240?s=20
Saw a headline this morning that said he was in line for a 16 grand golden goodbye for leaving a ministerial post. Ka-ching.
Hancock will be back. No way he would have resigned without compo. He’s an experienced turncoat and opportunist.
Not politically. He will go to the back benches and get his nose firmly in the trough of "consultancies" and "non exec directorships" for all those healthcare companies.
This "doing government business on Gmail" thing really gets up my nose. I have to do compliance training at least twice a year and sign to say I understand.
Don't use personal email for company business is front and centre always.
If I was caught sending mails to and from my gmail account to any customer, never mind a public sector customer, my feet wouldn't even touch the ground as my arse was slung out the door.
Yet these clowns think they are above all this as they hand out contracts to their mates.
and get his nose firmly in the trough of “consultancies” and “non exec directorships”
Having his nose in the trough of a non executive director is what got him into this mess. 🙂
Johnson declaring the matter to be closed when clearly it wasn't seems to indicate a certain amount of drift around No. 10. The 600m 'unaccounted for' tests (paid for.....but like so much else), Hancock using his private email for public business, the Carrie On HR dept, must a least produce a few squeaky bums on the back benches. When the end comes it comes quickly.
If I was caught sending mails to and from my gmail account to any customer, never mind a public sector customer, my feet wouldn’t even touch the ground as my arse was slung out the
This!
I work with anonymised patient data and even I would be in serious crap if I use my non NHS email
Its also glaringly unprofessional, there's no way he wasn't deliberately doi g it because he knows it was dodgy
Yep it's not as though they didn't get a wedge for a home office set up, which presumably came with all the HMG security protocols.
Having his nose in the trough of a non executive director is what got him into this mess.
Lets not allow this to slip by without giving it any credit. Bravo.
I feel dirty but I've just read Sarah Vines piece in the mail about MPs that leave their wives
There's a whole lot to unpack, especially in light of the rumours that Gove has moved in with a bloke
Also funny that Johnson (allegedly Carrie-but I don't buy the mysoginistic lady macbeth stuff) has replaced Hancock with Javid
Who Cummings also despises, so we can expect him to start leaking whatsapps about the Saj shortly
My tory (ex-kipper) mouthpiece of an MP (Jenkinson) has managed to retweet Cleverley's tweet above but strangely not a word about Hancock's behaviour or how he (Jenky) was full of support for Cummings last year. Oh well...
Having his nose in the trough of a non executive director is what got him into this mess. 🙂
Deserves another airing (like little Matty's snout probably got after the event).
There’s a whole lot to unpack, especially in light of the rumours that Gove has moved in with a bloke
I thought he already had, but the other person in the picture turned out to be Sarah Vine.😂
I'm genuinely confused why the government won't investigate the leaker

Loony stitches up crook.
It is a result either way, but you have to wonder what the other grownup nations in the world are making of this.....
🇬🇧🍆💦🇬🇧

This ^^
I'm in public sector and we get internal and external audits, we have an external Scrutiny Committee, procurement goes through a standardised internal process with every stage documented. Any hint of someone using personal email to conduct company business and the only stop they made on the way out the door would be a high ranking disciplinary committee.
That's before you consider the rank incompetence and shagging a work colleague in company time.
And these clowns are just blatantly corrupt to the core. Every single one of them deserves a thorough slapping.
5 more points to the Tories on the monthly polls?
😂
It's like John Major's lot all over again.
Hancock gets classier
We already knew he was a contemptible piece of shit, so no surprises there.
I expect it isn’t THE footage – as in someone has taken the file off the CCTV system’s computers. The person leaking the footage has filmed the CCTV screen with their phone
You know, I really couldn't give a toss about Matt Hancock punching above his weight. JAFT getting caught with his pants almost down. Chop one down and it's like a hydra's head.
But I can't help but wonder why this little snippet isn't raising more questions. Someone has recorded CCTV footage using their mobile from a monitor in what one would sincerely hope should be a secure location within a government building. Leaving "oh, how convenient" aside for a moment, this is surely a massive security breach.
I'm assuming it's not authorised security personnel because they would have access to the actual footage, unless they were clever enough not to show their hand (or dim enough not to know how to access it I suppose). So we've got unauthorised people wandering round the security station. Who else might be able to just pop in for a cup of tea and a bit of light photography? The next visiting Russian delegate? Murdoch / Banks / any one of a number of other slippery shits who might have an interest in a blackmail angle?
This “doing government business on Gmail” thing really gets up my nose. I have to do compliance training at least twice a year and sign to say I understand.
It's been a few years since had a reliable source on this so it may be out-of-date info, but the government's systems are (were?) powered by the Google suite. So it's likely that their professional email is in fact Gmail.
@Cougar I have no way of knowing whether that is true, but using his personal mail account (assume Matt.Hancock@gmail.com or something) as opposed to the government one (assume Matt.Hancock@Uk.gov or something) is something that ICO needs to get in on.
If nothing else, there will/should be a DPA in place for the gov.uk account which there may not be for the personal one. If the mails he sent contained PII or confidential information, he is likely to be in a world of pain and that does not include the sanctions for breaking the rules on transparency in government.
This is conjecture by the way, GDPR is not my thing. I just have to help protect within its guidance.
It's getting boring now, the guy was caught having an affair with someone he works with, same thing that has happened pretty much everywhere on the planet, he's now resigned from his position and his life is pretty much in ruins just now.
Everything in the papers is just political scoring, fake outrage or just hatred towards the guy who is pretty much just a bog standard politician, an empty suit in the head position doing the press and political stuff.
I have no care for tories, or politicians, but this stuff just now is just the same old crap of everyone coming out of the woodwork to comment on this, hell the other day we're reading about how matt hancock stopped people seeing their grandparents but did this, honestly, as if he's stood outside the old folks home in a hi-viz vest, or responsible for pretty much any of the contractual stuff, MPs and cabinet members only care about when it goes wrong and they're in front of a committee, until then it's just daily briefs and the thousands in the back offices doing the actual work.
I don't consider myself old fashioned but I wouldn't vote for someone who cheated on their wife in this way. Labour/Tory or any other party.
Also why does it take an affair to bring out all this other stuff (email etc)?
Also why does it take an affair to bring out all this other stuff (email etc)?
Because all >50% of the 'great' British public are interested in is who has been going balls deep in who and in what sexual positions (they can get all outraged if it involved 'European' exotic stuff).
hell the other day we’re reading about how matt hancock stopped people seeing their grandparents but did this, honestly, as if he’s stood outside the old folks home in a hi-viz vest
You do understand how people who decide the rules works don't you?
The government has spent a lot of our money trying to stop legal challenges to uncover just how utterly corrupt this man is, and he’s not alone. All this “other stuff” has been coming out for months now, just ignored. Further uncovering of his dodgy deals isn’t because of the affair, it’s just more “newsworthy” because of the affair. He should have not only gone long ago, but the government (not this one, but the one that should be put in place instead of this corrupt bunch) should be trying to get money back from all the failed and overpriced contracts given to contacts of Hancock, Gove, Cummings… all of them, including Johnson.
using his personal mail account (assume Matt.Hancock@gmail.com or something) as opposed to the government one (assume Matt.Hancock@Uk.gov or something)
Correct. My point was, pedantically perhaps, that the problem isn't that it was a Gmail account but rather that was his personal account.
