Maybe just maybe it’ll be Ok. It seems to throw back to the original format.
Fingers crossed, loved the first one then it went down hill rapidly.
Laurence Fishburne has aged well!
Can't possibly be worse than 2 & 3????
Maybe just maybe it’ll be Ok.
I tried watching the Trainspotting sequel and gave up in disappointment. The first Matrix was amazing, then it just got lost in the sequels. No appetite for any more.
Whatever happened to the court case surrounding the franchise? Saying that the story was stolen from another author or such?
The first was brilliant, proper jaw dropping stuff.
The other two were complete bobbins, they don't even exist to me. I'll watch it and hope for the best but expect the worst.
That looks good.
He needs to be careful taking all those blue pills though - he'll be 'stiff' for hours!
Hoping it’s good !!
Good trailer
The first film was an instant classic.
The 2nd film was just a mess of poor ideas and daft characters, I didn't think it would get any worse.
Then Revolutions came along and said "Hold my beer"

+1
Personally I can see how they got from 3 to 4(if this is indeed 4)
TS2, dear lord what an embarrassment.
Please please please let it be good!

101% this
I hope it is either a good sequel or, failing that, just a good action movie.
I am disappointed Hugo Weaving doesn't appear to be in it but I can live without Lawrence Fishborne. TBH, it would have made more sense to have none of the original cast/characters (apart from Neo) to give more flexibility over the story without the audience seeing some original actors and some replacements (I appreciate the original Oracle was replaced but let's skip that bit).
Have the Wackoffskis run out of money?
I predict great awfulness.
Anyone else think Neo would have been better off if he'd just taken the other pill?

That looks completely and utterly stupid.
I'm in.
Also,
Is it just me, or does it basically look like a fan service remake rather than a sequel.
checks Yep, I'm still in.
Trailer looks great.
Despite loving the first film and Animatrix, I have literally no clue what happened in either of the others. All I remember is some twins shooting cars, trinity falling and some stupid rave.
Feel like I need to find a youtube video explaining it in dumb-dumb terms, cos I sure as shoite ain't about to watch 2 + 3 again.

I'm pretty sure it's a Normantula McMan production. Guy has a solid track record.
I never made it through 2&3 without falling asleep or just wandering off to do something else.
Can anyone explain what happened at the end of 3 that might lead to Keanu, and Trinity being apparently back in the Matrix, and unaware?
As long as it's not 'Somehow, Palpatine returned...'
Great piece music.
Didn't they all die when their underground rave cave was drilled to death?
And the architect told them this was the 7th time it had happened?
only the 7th?
And the architect told them this was the 7th time it had happened?
He should get in a better civil engineer to do the calcs next time. Make that rave cave a bit more robust.

They should have turned the music down a bit. Serves them right for being noisy neighbours!

This. ☝

Kind think that’s maybe an alternative storyline.
Probably rubbish, but still looks pretty good
White Rabbit. Still possibly the best song ever made
I'll be at the cinema come Xmas watching this. Bring it on 🙂

The sentinels attacked in one huge army, Neo switched the Matrix off and back on again.

and
I find these are better than the films.
I'm also fairly sure there was something about Neo being a construct of the Matrix itself, and when he died he didn't truly die but was reabsorbed into, just like had happened many times before.
And something about the oracle saying there'd be another Neo some day.
I may be imagining this/making it up, but it's what I remember happening when I made the mistake of sitting through 2 and 3 in the cinema, and I'm not revisiting them to confirm/deny it.
Screenplay by David Mitchell apparently, who is a most excellent writer.
Worth a punt for this alone.
I will also require someone to explain what happened in 2 and 3 to me.
First Matrix is one of my favourite films of all time.
To me, it was a film I desperately wanted a sequel to after the first one, and when they did you thought why.
White Rabbit. Still possibly the best song ever made
That will keep the kids off drugs.
Please don't be as shite as #2 and #3. That's all I ask.
Is it me or do some of the effects in the trailer look a bit ropey? I was in to it until I caught a glimpse of the human enclave thingy from those two films we don’t discuss in polite company. Please just stay inside the Matrix. By the halfway point of the second (third?) film I was on team robot
Neo switched the Matrix off and back on again.
So this is a reboot then?
I worked full time in a rockers pub for 3 years once. They played White Rabbit on a constant loop. Must have heard it 50 times a day. 6 days a week. For 3 years.
And yet... what an utterly brilliant song.
The trailer looks great for what appears as a simple remake.
So this is a reboot then?
Good work!
I will try and make the trip to the cinema. In the new year I reckon 🤔.
Had the Ghostbusters reboot been released yet? Or will that be out around Halloween?
Dune
Matrix
Ghostbusters
Top Gun
Should be some enjoyable cinema coming up!
Bang tidy-looking! 🙂

November.
Kind think that’s maybe an alternative storyline.
Is what I was thinking - there is a lot of reference to the pills in the trailer and that could suggest they play a significant part of the story. In the original (correct me if I am wrong) if he took the red pill he would forget the meeting with Morpheus and just carry on being a part of the construct but taking the blue freed him to become Neo.
In this film perhaps he is taking the blue pills to keep him in his new 'reality' (he throws a load down a basin).
Or I could be talking ballcocks.
Can anyone explain what happened at the end of 3 that might lead to Keanu, and Trinity being apparently back in the Matrix, and unaware?
IIRC they both died in robot city... It's not a massive narrative leap to suggest that they just plugged the corpses in, jump started their tickers and wiped their memories...
I reckon the twist might be that they plugged Trinity back in, but Neo went full leccy, and is now a disembodied Spirit/Program.... Woooo

Like Dark City!
Maybe it's just another simulation inside the first one and so on. Like Existenz.
Certainly a lot of these weird films around in the late 90s.

So we've got a self-driving Trinity and a hybrid Neo?
Truly the future.
Like Dark City!
I liked that film! Quite hard to get hold of now...
Doogie Howser quit medicine to work as a therapist? I'm not prepared to suspend disbelief quite that far.
I quite enjoyed the third one, soz. Though was it 2 or 3 that had the pretentious french dude droning on for ages?
Allez, salut maintenant.
(or was that 'alors'? Hmm.)
The Matrix Reloaded is the greatest film ever made. If you know, you know
Or I could be talking ballcocks.
Yeah. The red freed him.
The original was filmed in my old neighbourhood in Sydney - standing outside a coffee shop tucked away down an alley thinking "This all seems very familiar.... I'm sure I've been here before" is perhaps the most perfect piece of irony possible.
Apparently there is a new John Wick about to come out. Possibly made them at the same time...
So it wasn't just me thinking "ah, they've got John Wick to play Neo this time" then?
Why is John Wick in the new Matrix film?
Also, the trailer says "This Christmas." Do they really mean that or will it be next Christmas because folk don't want to go to the cinema in sufficient numbers? Or are they simply messing with our heads in true Matrix fashion?
Where is Laurence Fishburne!
Yeah. The red freed him.
I am colour blind. Sorry.

He's done a few interviews saying he wasn't asked to be in it. Could be a secret reveal I guess.

I was wondering the same (about both him and Hugo Weaving). We can but hope.
Saw this on twitter... 😀
how does a Matrix movie work in 2021? I'm supposed to be scared of living in a fake reality, trapped forever in 1999? Shit, frost my tips and log me in
I am colour blind. Sorry.
I don’t think you’re exactly wrong. I do think it may be alternative version where he delayed taking the pill.

Ha, that's great. Come to think of it, they did mention in the first movie that the matrix was created as a simulation of the peak of our civilisation. 🤔

Yeah I have seen various articles reviewing the trailer that are supposing similar theories.
Dune
Matrix
Ghostbusters
Top Gun
2021 - The year they ran out of ideas*
* I say that, but I will most likely see all these films, especially Dune, the David Lynch film will always have a place in my heart, but it has been crying out for someone to come along and make a belter of a version, and I have nothing but faith in Denis Villeneuve
But the film industry could really do with investing some of the filthy money they're making from the Marvel Migraine films and punt it into cultivating some fresh and original ideas
Part way through 3 having watched the lot recently.

Already happened, RoboCop(y), 2016 Ghostbusters, the Disney CGI remakes etc. All pretty lazy attempts.

At least the above look all look to be pretty decent attempts.

I chose my wording very carefully because of that. Thinking “fun” rather than any classics (but still considerably better than any Marvel)
All throughout that trailer I was just hoping for the inimitable "Mr Anderson" but alas. Still looks like it has potential though.

Totally agree, Thankfully there are still good films being made, not everyone's cup of tea or big earners but just good solid films. I'm probably not right in my thinking, there are films out there, but they get lost in the shouting match of the blockbusters, and it's the blockbusters that are all the remakes (which I suppose makes perfect sense)
I suppose if they're being successful and bringing in the cash, at least we get films like The Green Knight, Midsommar (barmy and gorgeous to look at) Dredd (uber violent and a perfect palette cleanser to the Stallone film) and Parasite (stonking, good fun, a great story and possibly my favorite film of recent years)
I need to put my film snob back in the cupboard
Your not wrong about a lack of new ideas, apparently Disney are doing (another) remake of Planet of The Apes.
Nothing wrong with being a film snob! Some people have higher standards, is all 😃 Original was groundbreaking. Sequels were dire & unnecessary, but understandable on the grounds that a trilogy/story arc was part of the original vision (although very much had the effect of making the greatness of the first film appear more luck than judgement!)I need to put my film snob back in the cupboard
This is just pointless wrt said artistic vision, although from the trailer actually does look like reasonably enjoyable brainless action fodder. At least one of the original directors is too embarrassed to have anything to do with it though 🤣
I've gone back and watched the trailer again... I've got over them using White Rabbit for the music... and I'm all onboard and giving them the benefit of the doubt... fingers crossed.
No Fishburne is a big mistake for me though. The story might demand it, perhaps, but it's a disappointment.
I have just seen the trailer for John Wick 4. It looks like Neo is in that.
Maybe John Wick is a Matrix character.
Dune
Matrix
Ghostbusters
Top Gun
Yep a cracker of releases 🙂
I work with Mr Anderson and I’ve honed my Agent Smith impersonation over many years.
I just read that quickly and thought there was a remake of Dambusters coming up.
As you were
