Was is the closest 16:10 ratio I can get to 297 x 210? The larger the better but should be 16:10

I see the ratio of 297x210 is 1:1.414 (googled). My brain simply won't let me work out what needs to be done to calculate this.

Thanks

Are you buying a monitor?

Do you have a fixed maximum upper width or height?

To get the shorter side, you take 297/16 x 10 = 185 ish. If your width is the limit, than 210 / 10 x 16 = 336.

Obviously, 336 is more than 297, so your maximum will be 297 x 185. If you need to print the whole thing on A4, then set the width to 185 and you should have a small (tiny) margin all round.

Once you've created that, it will scale up or down to A3, A5, etc as the proportions are the same.

Thanks all.

It wasn't for buying a monitor. I'm mocking up an online questionnaire in PS and it needs to be printed and stuck to A4 (or slightly smaller) card.

I didn't think of the obvious solution which was to make an A4 sized canvas, make a 16:10 rectangle and then scale it up keeping the aspect ratio.

Those measurements will come in useful though pyranha.

Thanks all

Won't most people be using 16:9 monitors though?
