I like Lauren's cooking because of the spice used.

Philipe messed up as I guess he runs out of ideas.

Tonight's should be interesting because two of the blokes are very good and creative.

Crikey, those 2 stars Michelin foods ... too complicated.

Just give me Indonesian and M'sia street food satay will do.

Ikoyi
It is named after a place in Nigeria.

£300 a head for a 2 star tasting menu (though, 18 courses) with no sample menu on the site.

L’enclume is 3 stars and is £250 a head. Not in that London though.

Too much of an advert for the host restaurant run by a bloke too far up his own parsons nose

I thought the restaurant owner sounded a bit like the culinary equivalent of Mary Anne Hobbs

I’m sure it’s all lovely, but when you get to that point it’s no longer really food that any of us mere mortals find recognisable and I’m sure I’m too much of an uncultured heathen to fully appreciate it

The nerdy graphic designer in me loved their logo though 😡

Charlie seems a more natural fit in that kind of world, but I’d rather eat what Tom was cooking

I’ve had the tasting menu at L’Enclume when it was merely a Michelin one star.

I’m not sure I’d say it was all lovely. It was interesting, and parts of it were delicious, and it was an experience I’m glad I’ve had, and I wouldn’t rush to repeat it.

TBF I have eaten at a few Michelin star restaurants - and also spent a week working with 4 Michelin star chefs.  I have even met the Rocca brothers at their gaff.

But boy, some of that food is getting seriously ****ed about with.  With a  list of 18 ingredients, a split sauce of 7, and a foam of 12, how do you actually taste anything?  All the desserts must taste like a Fruit Salad sweet

I think at this point when they're technically so close it's just down to whose food would you most want to eat?

For me it's still James from these three - there just seems to be more 'heart' in his food.

There’s a burger van up here started by a chief who worked at a Michelin star restaurant. He said he loved it, but when he was asked to come up with a 48 hour roast carrot enough was enough.

James was lucky to be there. He runs a hash brown stall. When he made a hash brown in the comp, he made a balls of it...

Both host chef's this week were pretty nice. A long way from the shouty bullies they used to get. I have a plan the next time I'm in Lichfield now!

Tom for the win; the first ginger Masterchef?

When I see these Michelin restaurants on masterchef they rarely, in fact, never appeal but oddly I was quite attracted to ikoyi.

I liked the look of the food and I liked his manner of talking. But yeah the Coventry guy also came across even more so as human and just a nice guy. Great to see him joking with his mum.

I've never been to one though. I'm just an armchair Michelin eater

James was lucky to be there

He was also lucky in that, as far as I could see, he didn't actually have to cook anything... Just assemble the pudding (admittedly delicate).

Seems like the second batch overall had an easier task than the three at ikoyi.

And yes tom ftw

It might turn out to be a case of commentator's curse but to me it looks like Kasae for the win of the remaining three. I can't say I've been inspired by her recipes but she seems very consistent

Dont see how a restaurant that relies on guests flying in from round the world can preach on environmental impact is pure comedy. Complains about waste and doesn’t even use the chickens feet.

You know the restaurant scene in Succession when they cover their heads with a shame mask while eating a songbird?

I suppose all restaurants sell experience to some extent, it was interesting to see that pushed to a limit

No restaurants sell that experience (legally) any more. Hunting of ortolan has been banned for a few years now. Even in France!

I'm a bit of a foody and have been inspired to try a couple of the high end restaurants featured on MC over the years. The one last night left me cold. It just seemed pretentious and contrived for its own sake. Reminded me of a cut price Bond villain in his lair with all the usual wide eyed flunkies.

No Copenhagen ticket for me then.

The 3 presenters were clearly keeping on message too. The reaction of Marcus when he held a raw chicken foot in his hand was comical. The man spends his whole life handling ingredients that haven’t been cooked yet. How can he possibly find it in the least bit disturbing.

so what's everyone's master chef  meal while watching the final? I always go for something dirty instead of fine.. tonight it's Mac and cheese and a side of southern fried chicken with sweetcorn

so what’s everyone’s master chef meal while watching the final?

1/2lb cheeseburger, with additional chicken fillet burger, all in the same bun. Cheesy chips and a couple of hash browns.

Called it when he made the ribs, even before the little editing trick that they ALWAYS do on the reveal of the winner gave it away.

I’ve just watched it. Very entertaining.

I think the tears were the realisation of what the contestants actually go through while they’re usually sat chatting, with a glass of wine waiting to be fed

Jays chilli ribs looked absolutely awesome!!! Everyone else was playing catch up from that point on

When they are waiting to announce the winner of any Masterchef show, they cut between the contestants faces as John/Greg say "and the chef going through/winning is...".

The winner is always the second to last face they cut to.

(My time as a Media Studies teacher tends to throw up observations like this from time to time and now I can't unsee it)
