Since it came out a couple of weeks ago, I've been listening to this a lot. It's certainly epic, but I can't work out whether I've bought into some very clever marketing and hype or whether it is actually very, very good.

(you need a decent hifi or a lot of it is lost, e.g. not your laptop speakers)

There's no digital copy available, and they only released 1,000 vinyl. I almost bought one on ebay, but for £300 it screams of hype at the moment.

Anyone else loving/hating it?

I like. But then I've always loved Massive Attack and think Burial is ace. It is very MA and very Burial, if that makes sense.

Not sure I'd pay £300 for a ltd edition pressing, tho'..!

Speaking as someone who has a digital copy (nudge nudge wink wink), I found it a bit average, compared to the best stuff Burial has done and the best stuff Massive Attack have done.
I'll give it another listen on my desktop turntable.

Hadn't heard this; really like it. But then have always loved Massive too. Obviously wouldn't pay £300 for it though. 😉

I love Burial and Massive Attack. A bit disappointed that the new track is long, unfocussed, and only really 'half there'.

If you've only got the two albums, check out youtube for loads of other Burial tunes - Fostercare, Lambeth, Gaslight, Exit Woundz, Shutta, etc

Do you just have a rip of the vinyl or a copy from the MA website? I've seen loads of those floating around (which is what I assume I have), but no proper CD quality versions.

Unless some cheeky bugger has managed to get a hold of and circulate the mastered version?

Very atmospheric and dark, could imagine some interesting visuals. I do like Burial's sound, he's definitely pushing forward. Still play Moth a lot, amazing track.

I agree with Dez. Not the best either have done. I'd like to hear an original lossless version though.

I heard it on Mary Ann Hobbs show on xfm afew weeks ago.
I'm not blown away but would rather listen to it than the snow patrol record. 🙂

@ 1:23 onwards there's definitely a bit that sounds very Future Sound of London-y... Papua New Guinea-esque..

In fact bits of it do sound a little bit like what FSOL were doing around 15 years ago TBH.

Kinda like it though. Better than Coldplay. 😆

:EDIT: Got to the end bit now - holy crap - it's freakin' AWESOME 😀

Yeah, it's very atmospheric, but not a lot else really.
Fostercare is soooooooooo much better.

So what's Paradise Circus like? I've not got that one.
Ah

I prefer that on first listen. (wow, especially from 10 mins: glorious)

Bored me if i'm honest. Which is sad as I was once an 'Massive' fan. Having seen them 4 times I loved their sound (and Tricky's and their production of 'Ordinary day') but kind of got off the boat around 100th window and Danny the Dog. Since stopping the diet of Bongs this kind thing bores me, as it's almost 11 mins of the same sample. I agree with no eyed deer, this stuff was uba 15 years ago when FSOL where rippin it. £300?!! That's the cookies for a week in the Alps!
