I am trying to setup 2 sepperate Alexa dots to link to different accounts within a family Spotify account. One is for each of my daughters and they each have a Spotify account within our family account. I can get them both to connect but they both connect to which ever Spotify account I have selected last and only one plays although both work as a microphone and change tracked etc. What am I missing. I have the Alexa app on my phone is the problem that I need two sepperate Alexa apps on two devices.

I don't know the answer. But I might have a hint. Failing that you'll be back at the top. I think these devices don't play Spotify from your phone. The phone is the remote the device then finds the song and plays it. Are the Alexa's in separate Amazon accounts

I can't get Alexa to play Spotify on grouped speakers via Sonos and it's driving me insane. If Sonos is playing, it makes no difference.....

I’m not sure that you can make your desired set up work. I ended up creating a separate Alexa account on my family Spotify and importing any desired playlists from the separate child accounts.
Someone of far superior knowledge will shortly be along to piffle at my advice!

I think you are right you will need a separate Alexa app/account for each separate Spotify account, the app sets the preferred music service for all linked devices.
I use a separate family account for my Alexa so that when someone starts the speaker it dosent kill what I’m listening to on my phone.

It might be way worth a ring to amazon support as there might be a way round it and they tend to be very helpful.

You need to remove one of them from your Amazon account.
Either that or “Alexa Spotify Connect” and then select it from your phone.
It “should “ then stick with that next time.
Easiest is to just slit the accounts though.

I've got them set up on different accounts on my Sonos Alexa which is one step more complex. For that I had to create an amazon/alexa account for each Spotify family member and link the appropriate Spotify account to the Alexa account.
Then using the Web based Alexa app (iirc the phone app has an issue here), set up each Alexa device with only the appropriate account. You will need to deregister each from its current account first by logging in through that one. (Find devices afterwards will add the others).
There are some other steps for Sonos but that is what I remember for Alexa.
I also used the 5th (spare in my case) family account to make a dummy Spotify account named "family" for our living areas so any could play it without messing up individual playlist recommendations etc.

For now or forever? When Alexa came out a lot of the skills were US only for a while...

I really hate it when I am out on my bike with headphones on playing my spotify list & one of the kids tells Alexa to play their music
The house is on my account so I then get Led Zep replaced by Taylor Swift despite the fact I am miles away from home 🙁

Same problem here, so the kids each ended up with an alexa amazon account, linked to their spotify family accounts.

The only 'problem' is that we can't now broadcast a message to the group of aleaxs and we have to 'drop in' on them to message them from the other end of the house - or just shout teatime and hope they appear.
