Has anyone else watched this. Really great watching even for non cyclists. Behind the scenes footage and some different camera angles from the races as well. Thoroughly recommended.
Watched 1/2 hour last night and will watch the rest tonight, fascinating yet brutal.
Footage of lots of sprinting road bikes always scares me.
Watched it this afternoon. Good overall, but slightly disappointed a certain disgraced cyclist was featured so much. You know, the one who's never won the TdF.

I liked how wrong he was though

My partner watched it yesterday. She knows nothing about bike racing but really enjoyed it. We couldn't go to sleep last night till I'd explained sprinting, climbing, peleton, teams, domestiques and the yellow jumper.
I really enjoyed it. He had a rough ride and proved them all wrong. I liked the way it all worked out for him. Bit nippy n'he.
Lance wasn't featured, they obviously approached him and it was all historical podcasts from the Wedu stuff, podcasts which are really good, and cav was on a team with Hincapie, there was no "new" stuff from Lance
I was shocked how old some of the stuff was, there seemed to be a lot of footage from 2016-2018
Cav is obviously the GOAT, and has had a tough time in the interim years. But he can be a massive c0ck sometimes.
Really enjoyed it. Lots I didn't know, including the role Patroick Lefevre played in his resurrection. Thinking that maybe if I got some new sunglasses I could go much much faster?

This, and he spent the whole film dissing Cav. Maybe it was just included so he ended up looking like an idiot. I mean. even more like an idiot.
Loved it. Tour unchained is also very good and season 2 (2023 tour) should be even better.
I have a feeling Cavs last chapter isn't written yet, but if it is he has left nothing behind. 34/35 won't change anything in my eyes
It was brilliant,a look into the eye wateringly difficulty of being a top rider.
Very frank look into the depths of depression and the support from his friends and family that he didn't see at the time but revels in now.

Super documentary. He really has grown into the media space well. Came across really good on camera.

It didn’t need Armstrong in it though. That was a shame.

Re: Armstrong...
You do realize this is a Netflix documentary, and that Netflix is an US company with a vast US audience... don't you...
. . . so it has to have Lance in it? Why? Do Americans think he’s a stand up ‘guy’, unfairly persecuted like a certain disgraced former president? Personally I think the filmmakers did their best to make Lance look like a total cock, which came across very well.
Just finished watching it and thought it was brilliant. Great to see the emotions and relationships behind the scenes.
It was refreshing to see someone of his stature opening up and being really frank about his struggles with depression. Hats off to his wife for her honesty about the whole thing too. Can't have been easy for either of them
Really enjoyed this. Unpopular opinion maybe but I thought Lance's commentary fitted in quite well. His opinionated and abrasive personality epitomised the tone of commentary Cavendish had to deal with.
Cycling is niche; to increase the potential reach for viewers it needs a huge name that people with next to no knowledge of the sport will recognise.
The fact that He Who Must Not Be Named is that person adds to the intrigue for all of us though. And he does come across as a right whopper.

a lot of this, got the feeling without Covid, she's have gone
It was brilliant,a look into the eye wateringly difficulty of being a top rider.
and this, take Mohorič's interview recently on similar struggles
It didn’t need Armstrong in it though. That was a shame.
see I think it did, and he wasn't IN IT, it was snippets of his podcast from the time, he was the absolute antithesis, someone that actually called him over and done, who else did at the time, publicly? and then admitted he was wrong
And he does come across as a right whopper.
Watched it this afternoon, yeah he does.
Good film nonetheless
Watched it 2 nights ago with my girlfriend who knows (or did till then) nothing about cycle racing & she was really blown away by it.
From the brutality of the crashes to the level of suffering required to be a pro cyclist.

Well, the Armstrong nay-sayers have proven the documentary makers right. Even here, he's generating column inches...
Whether you "approve" of him or not, he's definitely got a certain pull (notoriety) and a certain abrasive personality that makes him more compelling to watch (in the media) than someone like Vingegaard (for instance) who seems to have zero presence off the bike (sorry Jonas! 🤷)
Armstong clips/comments made sense in the context of the documentary and neatly summarised the feeling many had during the the rise/fall/rise of Cavendish.
I haven't seen the Cavendish docu' on NETFLIX but I will watch it soon.
In my opinion you can't make any show about professional bike racing without Lance Armstrong.
His story demonstrates the brutality of 'our' sport and shows everyone (including us) how difficult it can be to become a professional bike race, to remain a professional bike racer and to be a retired professional bike racer.
It should serve as a lesson and a warning to anyone who wants to be a professional bike racer or probably any professional sports person.
I think you've got to be an arrogant, selfish, over-achiever and you will still face some difficult choices. Plus you will be judged for those choices (as Lance is) by lots of people, maybe millions of people, who don't know you or the choices you had to make.
I think his story and his presence add context for people who are less familiar with the sport and illuminates the background to Cav's struggles :o)
YMMV!
It was really good, showed the darkness he went through. Plus was very very much warts and all.
Cav came off well, but his coach had him nailed with his first impressions
Very moving...especially when he won on the tour again in 21 after not thinking he was going..
I'm struggling here not to shed more than a couple of tears.
I'll have to find a way to watch this. Don't have Netflix but I guess our son can fix that. Mrs MD is a real fan. I'm rather split. In some respects I don't find him that nice a character but then.... I really quite like him... and I certainly admire him. Whether he beats the TdeF record.... being an Eddy fan I feel pretty neutral about it and I'm kind of happy with it ending up a draw. But.... if Cav did manage another one it would be great. .Anyway must see the film.
