I fear I may have lost many this evening. Picked up a new (to me) car this morning, and I have spent some time this evening reading the manual. Yes, I actually read the instruction manual for something.

Forgive me, I beg you.

Nothing wrong with doing that.

(I assume you were on the shitter though).

Better than the *cough* log book.

Edit: Unintentional double punning. 🙂

[s]So?[/s]And?.. what did you learn? Impart some wisdom - from memory mind - do go thumbing through the manual again.

SIPS
WHIPS
DSTC
MMCA*
Jacking point locations
Getting the spare out
Winter gearbox mode
Much of the rest was as my old car, so no real change!

*Many more clever acronyms

Hmm- Manpoints. Thinking I'd get into Mrs A's goodbooks I decided to donate my secret savings to her so that she could buy a new laptop that she had been wanting for quite some time.

I was met with annoyance that I had this money stashed away that she was unaware of. A definite loss of manpoints there, for multiple reasons.

Thats because she's been watching Breaking Bad

XC90. Big old barge!

And yes, it has heated wing mirrors.

Another time this forum should have a like button.

Universe bless the Volvo 'Winter Pack'!

Nothing better than a Volvo seat than a heated Volvo seat.

Guessed it might be an XC90 from things you have said earlier.

Enjoy!

Saw a Signal Red W123 230TE with 19000 miles on it at M-B World earlier in the week. Would have done you fine...!

Excellent choice Sir.

Winter pack is an educated choice.

They're a big old barge for sure, but you'll love the high driving position, so will the family .

Unless you've just had a vasectomy and you're driving yourself home.

Disappointed that cfh doesn't have a brand new motor, that he doesn't sit in the back and that it isn't a (minimum of) merc s class.

Very nice especially if a 1st Gen with then tail gate.. once you've used it you'll never want a car without one. Sadly 2nd Gen did away with tail gate which is annoying me greatly (as I can't afford a LR/RR)

It's one way of keeping the mileage down on the Maybach...

on account of it never having left the showroom 🙂

Exactly! Hardly the sort of thing a gentleman would be seen in! 🙂

Very pleased with the XC90 so far. Driving position is lovely. Seats are Volvo excellence as per, and memory seats are a real boon.

The boot is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to the boot.

You don't have to turn the heated seat on Brant, but I'm loving the heated leather at the moment,
XC60 with winter pack 🙂

You don't have to turn the heated seat on

More fun to turn the passenger one on when an unsuspecting passenger is sitting in it on a hot summer's day. *Cue uncomfortable squirming!*

Had to the other day because the wifes new car has one of those witchcraft electric handbrake thingys.

Makes it really hard to 180 the MPV at the local cruise

Do any cars not have heated wing mirrors and seats these days? Last 4 as standard. Not luxury barges either. On the ever lengthening list of essentials. 😉

New-car-humble-brag-willy-wave eh? -99 man points. Reading a manual: +56 old-man points. No right of appeal.

Still, at least your bum will be warm while you rock silently and contemplate the fultility of existence.

Do you wear gloves to drive said car?

I actually read the instruction manual

I have never understood what is meant to be "manly" about some chump frantically trying to intuit how a complicated thing works without consulting the thoughts on the subject provided by the guy who designed it.

🙂

Welcome to the XC90 club! I fitted a 3 seater leather sofa inside mine with the boot closed!!!

Get a towbar fitted for the bikerack - the parking sensors are high enough that it won't interfere. Having said that, my 29er gets swallowed whole with wheels on. For an Alps trip we managed 9 bikes inside the back. Wheels and pedals removed, but everything went in.

I bought one of the last xc90s off the production line for £12k off list price. The new ones look lovely, but have a hefty price tag.

Oh dear!

CFH. You are actually dead, however, unfortunately it would seem that nobody has told you.

Northwind may be asking for the forgiveness of his forefathers in Valhalla, while contemplating the purchase of a bread slicer. The poor left handed sole.

But there's a special place in hell for the volvo owner!

Burn, baby, burn.
