Heard somehing really average by them today.

Used to be good too. But arrogant with it.

Manic Street Preachers? Those revolutionary anti-establishment rebels? Who were on Strictly a couple of weeks back?

and not meaning to be glib, but it's a bit, er, nothing really. Can't see why people rate this band.

Personal taste though eh. You'd probably hate some of my stuff.

Total sell outs now IMO. Dig out Holy Bible '94 I think when they were decent.

They look like dads doing christening parties nowadays. Wherever Richie is I bet he disapproves.

Anyone else see them at Knebworth supporting Oasis in 1996?

Best drum ending ever...

I'd gone right off them but wandered into the big tent to see them headlining at reading last year and they were bloody brilliant. Though there were a couple of really ropey new songs.

Jeez they've got old and dull, should have packed it in when Richie vanished or at least done a joy division/new order and changed the name, boring old dadrock with a touch of soft socialism now.

If they'd ended it after three records they'd have been good.

Not feeling it here.

Liked them a lot in their prime, saw them in a small club in Warrington when they were just getting going and they were fantastic. Even then, though, they didn't really have the tunes. That was 18 years back ('kin ell!) so credit to them for keeping going at least.

Never, ever liked them. Crap lyrics, too many words trying to sound clever but saying nothing at all, lines that don't scan...
I mean, what the xxoxin' heck does 'motorcycle emptiness' mean?
Student Union level agitprop politics. Billy Bragg had it right when he confronted them about demanding separate loos at Glastonbury.

Ok ish. Politically you might align yourself, but quite tempered they just don't rock enough. That's it isn't it?

Aye, awright.

Get off yer high horses.

Bollocks to the past, to the way they might have been, to the political angst, to the pseudo-nihilistic lyrics, to the "sellout!" brigade

That's a great, passionate performance by a talented singer. I wish I had 10% of his talent.

If you don't agree with me, I still love and respect you... Jesus, I must be pished.

Saw 'em supporting the Levellers once in Manchester - must have been around 1992.

They were the worst attempt at a band i've ever seen & that's saying something! Couldn't sing, couldn't play, just postured on this little stage in front of a bunch of crusties. They got boo'ed off stage, no wonder that richie bloke topped himself - after that performance i would have done too.
