Not for a few weeks but looking for any ideas for somewhere to go after we get turfed out of the hotel.. Somewhere for late night drinking and dancing, but mostly drinking.. Usual mix of ages but aiming more at the 30+ crowd.

Any good ideas?

Fab Cafe is the usual default for this kind of thing. Always a great night.

Poor old place was looking decidedly shabby and unloved last time I was there, the smell of disinfectant was a bit off-putting too.

It's been a couple of years though, have things improved??

I don't understand Christmas Do's after Christmas. The whole event has finished, there's no 'buzz'

Not being a party pooper, maybe it's just me, dunno.

Someone suggested one of the dates for our Christmas ride/curry as Jan 4th. No thanks, I'm done with it by then

Went to Arcane for cocktails not long back, nice spot which you could also hold a conversation in without shouting “what?” every thirty seconds.

I read it as Post Christmas-Do rather than Post-Christmas Do.

I should definitely have paid more attention to my hyphenation - sorry!

Now, if I end up like the guy in the blue suit at the end of the night I'd call that a win. I don't think he spilled a drop!

Sounds like you need the Straight Village, aka Deansgate. it's like a towny pisshead's theme park, which is unfortunately taking over the entire city. Going in to Manchester at a weekend these days is like walking into a city-wide Stag and Hen-do.

If there's loads of you and its an office/work type night out then you could try Albert's Schloss which is massive and will be full of people on works do's, Christmas Parties and so forth.

Its just down the road from Blues Kitchen so you could use one or the other as back-up.

Fair warning, there'll be a queue and also whilst they have live music on I think it's often some sort of brass band/jazz/burlesque/drag/something or other so that may appeal or it may not.

If you're at that end of town then Yes, Exhibition, or Refuge could be worth a look and a bit more discerning than Albert's Schloss but depends on what you're after really.

If you were happy to just go to some bars then you could got to Stevenson Square in the Northern Quarter and just pick any of the millions of bars around there as well. They're smaller but there's a venue nearby called Mint Lounge which, depending on what's on, would accommodate a large group of drunk work-party people.

Or you could see if you all cram into the Circus Tavern.
