Anybody know of a good value car park close to the airport?
I'm booked in for the family holiday in Feb and its costing £65 for 8 days, happy to pay that to make life easy and it'd cost more for cabs.
However, have a couple of work trips coming up and the official car parks are demanding about £60 for 36 hours parking! It also seems as though there are no medium or long term i.e. bus based options anymore at Manc? Have they just closed due to less traffic or re-classifed.
I did use an offsite option years ago that was a fraction of the price but can't seem to find anything now. I'd happily use the train, which I can do (barring delays) to get there but I can't get home again due to late arrival into the airport on the return.
Pointers appreciated
Im pretty sure there's large park and ride facilities. Not sure of cost but I think th mega expensive fees are the multistorey parking tight in the centre.
Uhmm, found a place called Toad! What can go wrong...
Short term trips = bizniss = expenses = DNGAF is the pricing strategy adopted by the parking suppliers
Do what I did, get a mate to pick you up.
Why isn't work paying for it? Self employed?
I always take the train, obviously depends where you are coming from. Straight into airport no hassle no drop off fee. Just park near a station, heald green is the nearest stop on my line. You even get a 2 hour delay window from tpx if you get delayed and prebooked a cheap ticket.
I know people who park at the airport, it's stupid money but they aren't bothered. I tell them there's a good train service they look at me like I have 2 heads.
We always park at the short stay where you can walk straight in to the terminal, that’s always been less than £50 for a week…. As above though maybe they charge more for just a couple of days? Pay for a week if it’s cheaper?
Get your company to pay!
Or do a MS Teams / Zoom meeting in stead baffles me why after COVID people still feel the need to fly places for a business meeting
Park somewhere along either the rail or tram links out to Manchester and go from there.
There are enough unrestricted residential streets around East Didsbury (on the Manchester side) or Wilmslow / Alderley Edge (on the other side) and trains are quick and regular.
For the return, how late are you? Last train out of the airport is about 11pm.
Otherwise just get a taxi out to where you've parked.
MIght as well park in wythenshawe and get the tram in. That's where most of the parking companies will leave your car anyway 😀
crazylegs - thought about using Wilmslow long stay car park and training in. Only one direct train an hour and I'd be stuffed if the car park were full when I got there! No pre-booking. I don't know anywhere well enough to be comfortable leaving in the street. I would have to get a cab back as I don't land until after 10.30. Do you know if East Didsbury tram car park allows long stay? That would be a future option.
scaled - next year maybe, just took a lease on an industrial unit in Wythenshawe! Tram could be my future.
Funky, I tend to agree but these trips are after many many Zooms! At some point you have to meet people to make progress and in our case, see things working! I am well past the age of finding airports or air travel exciting...

I live about 10 mins walk from a tram stop on the airport line, I'd happily show you places you could leave your car without too much risk.
Drop me a PM if you're interested
Thanks scaled - are you south side, I'm based near Macc
Yeah, Taxi is normally about £15-20 depending on which way your going (there's a charge for drop offs at the airport now, even for taxis)
I've resigned myself to paying around the £65/week mark for airport parking at Manchester at the moment. T2 multistory is nearly as cheap as the off site carpark options. Taxi, tram and train options aren't possible for the flight times otherwise I'd consider them
Usually decent cashback for official airport parking (Quidco / TCB) or at least there was before the pox.

Just opposite. 2 min walk. No barriers just drive in and park. The offsite are still shut I think.
nealc - that's a good find thanks! Guess the business park still has low occupancy as it seems to be their generic office spaces. 15 quid for the dates I need! 5 minute longer walk to save £50...
I'm booked for this trip but will try this in December
We used APH park and ride (their bus service, phone them for pick up on return) back in June. 10 minutes from the airport, and it was around £85 for two weeks. Great service, easy to use, A++++ etc etc
