Soon to be Mrs eGn and I are going to have a couple days in mammoth whilst on a honeymoon road trip around California.
Have any of you been? Can you recommend a particular place to stay?
Bishop's a nice little town with chain motels, etc. Recommend the Methuselah tree if you're into that kind of thing.
Many moons ago we stayed in the Mammoth Mountain Inn. Bloomin lovely.
One of the best places I've ever been. So many great restaurants, not to mention the mountains for skiing, snowboarding or mtbing depending on the conditions.

It was a few years ago, but we just rocked up to the Mammoth mountain resort hotel and got a top room really cheap what with it being out of seaon (this was in september). Get up, eat breakfast, walk across the carpark to bike hire shop, ride bike 10 yard to lifts, up to top, choose trail down, repeat for 6 hours.
I got to ride the Kamikaze a la JMC and Tomac 🙂

Overall it's pretty average, but the double rooms had heart shaped hot tubs when we stayed there. So cheesy it's cool!
Horse riding and biking is good up there as well.
And if you need to stop on the way to Tahoe check out the Riverside Inn at Downieville.
