My drinking buddy has been there a few times and likes it a lot. I would go purely because it is in the old Oxford prison that featured in Porridge.

Yes go there, not been for a year or so, but highly recommend it...

I'd order,

Serrano ham for a starter
entrecote steak for the main

If I get some good tips on my romance thread I may well be back there soon, wasn't worth wasting on the old gf.

Likewise, I went there a year ago just after it opened. I remember having some overpriced martinis in a very posh cocktail bar upstairs. Good as a one off. Good to go on your birthday and get someone else to pay 😉

With your user name you should enjoy it. They do a very nice Premier Cru Chablis that should get yer taste buds twitching 🙂

Stayed in the ones in Edinburgh and Aberdeen and they are both very good and value for money compared to other hotels of this caliber

I stayed in the one in Leeds once.

It was like living in a well-decorated shoe box. All fur coat and no knickers as an old boss used to like to say.

Malmaison Manchester "It's like a high class french brothel" is how my wife described it after going to a conference there.

Went for my 40th birthday treat, nice. Good bistro too, not rip off prices either.

Defo go. I booked a basic room for my Mrs Birthday once and managed to blag an upgrade to a suite with a "disco-shower". Has to be seen to be believed! Restaurant was pretty good too, apart from the tw*t at the next table insisting on speaking to the Sommelier before placing his wine order... 😆
