Only realistic option due to our limited flight time restrictions for a long weekend away on our chosen weekend is Mallorca.

We don't want to end up in a resort that's full of teenagers vomitting on every corner, but equally don't want somewhere that's dead (i.e. there needs to be a handful of decent bars etc since we're quite a way off retirement age yet). Ideally somewhere there's a decent scuba dive centre and access to boat trips, a lovely beach etc.

Anyone been there and could recommend anything?

Cala D'or has nice little beaches. Large selection of restaurants and a few bars. Little walk from a harbour, so I would guess there's boat trips etc. One thing it does not have is nightclubs.
Cala D'or Hotel is superb.

Puerto Pollenca is nice. I would not say the beach is too good though. Variety of good bars etc though.

Thanks for these, will have a Google. Quite fancy lively bars open late with music, DJ's etc, just preferably with a good mix of people. Don't mind the odd bar crawl teenage group, but don't want to be over run by them (as in the only option for a night out).

+1 for the north-east. Driving is easy if you hire a car. There are two scuba centres, in Puerto Pollensa or Alcudia, utilising the caves and coves in that region. And great biking from the door with good hire centres.

We stayed in an apartment in Puerto Pollensa over Christmas when it was very cheap. There is a long promenade and pretty harbour with cafes and restaurants, plus more local restaurants if you search for them in the residential bits. Definitely no nightclubs but pubs stay open until you've had enough. There is enough variety for a week.
