I’m in the market for a few Makita 18V power tools, I’ve already got a drill/driver and impact driver set, both use the LXT batteries.

I’m sold on the Makita, used various bits for years and it’s all been reliable. Blue, I like blue!

Question? Has anyone used Power Tool World website? Their prices are very, very good. Like £92 for a planer verses £145 from Screwfix. £110 for a circular saw verses £156. 5ah 18V batteries for £65 each.

Are they the Dave Hind of power tools?

I've used power tool world but via their eBay store, not direct. No problems and very good prices as you say, no issue when registering the tools with Makita for the warranty either.

Second FFX. Bought a few body only tools from their eBay store - mostly when eBay have 15% or so off selected sellers offers going.

Check out ffx too

But not their ebay site. its more expensive due to ebay fees etc. Try to buy direct.

ffx and powertoolworld are great. also toucantools can be worth a look

ffx and PTW are more expensive on ebay unless ebay have a code for 10- 15% off. then if you are quick you can get in their before all the prices go up and get some bargains. if you aren't in a hurry for tool this can save you a big chunk of money!

Yeah I’d happily recommend purchasing makita from power tool world. I’ve had numerous good purchases from them, good couriers and tracking provided, never had an issue.

I've done ffx and also Scott Direct. Think I've done eBay and direct too. FFX do 15% as someone else mentioned and I have also used the nectar boosts too successfully.

If anyone need recommendations for big 3rd party batteries, I can recommend Waitley brand from eBay. I've had a few of the 9(!)Ah for my chainsaw and circular saw, and they certainly don't seem to be any knock-off rubbish.

buyaparcel are fine despite the odd name but they are cheap for naked tools *no battery.

This is useful information, workmates mostly used Makita kit, and even the smaller drills just seemed to keep on going for a full day without needing recharging. They were being used to fit dual controls in learner cars, so lots of drilling into the floorpan of the cars.
I was actually going to buy a Makita cordless heat gun, but it was announced that our site was being closed down, so no actual need for one now.
What I could do with is a replacement for the two cheap Lidl/Aldi cordless drills I’ve had for years, they’re really not up to heavy duty use, but with a bit of a discount from one of the suggested suppliers, plus a couple of those Waitley batteries, they look pretty affordable.

Thanks all.
