Saw the music challenge, which I can't do. But I've been making stop motion films with my girl, a very frustrating experience and they're obvs very amateur but I love the effect so keen to do more.

Attempt 1, solo mission

v

Attempt 2, with 4yo director

v

Inspire me...

I like Blast Off. I mean, you gotta start somewhere!
Couldn't find the time to do that myself, might do one on the pooter later.

Some my lad did as part of a project

Stop motion lego build

We also made a Zoetrope (using an old freehub to rotate)

I liked blasyoff too, made me smile. How long does something like that take? What’s the process?

Get the StopMotion Studio app, or similar (think that was actually on PICPAC). Pick some random objects from your house and make up a story / sequence. It is practically easy, just time and patience... That only took 15 mins start to finish.

I’ve done a few of these with my boy - we’ve really enjoyed it. Although, sheesh, 120 odd photos for around 20 seconds of animation. 😂

We’ve loved it so much, I bought a gorilla tripod thing yesterday as keeping the phone leaned against something and perfectly still was painful.

What’s the best way of posting them here?

LOL .. they had a Yr6 project they had to choose a subject. Turned out to be fascinating.. he started off doing ROBLOX and after finding the code is all locked down he ended up doing "A history of animation".

I learned loads of unexpected stuff... perhaps the most fascinating being some pre-historic cave art that turns out be move when you use a flickering torch...

As much as possible we created the same animations using different techniques (most is on his school account) so we made flip books with the same animation as a zoetrope and same as a stop motion .. It would be loads of fun for lockdown.

This is a silly tune I chopped together and shuffled a few things around on the desk to provide some accompanying visuals. Stuck the GoPro on a mount on the anglepoise lamp and controlled it remotely via my phone. I should have fiddled with the exposure settings (assuming you can, I haven't delved that far into the menus) as the brightness jumps around a bit depending on what's in the scene
