As years advance I have been needing more and more to use reading glasses on a regular basis and now I've reached the point where not having them handy is a nuisance. I've tried perching them on my head and putting them in pockets, but the drawbacks are obvious.

I've seen recommendations for the ones that are on a neck band and fasten at your nose with a magnet, and I went as far as ordering some (magneteyes.co.uk), but they are going back tomorrow, as they are made of thick plastic, so they look awful, and the neck band is rigid and uncomfortable. I've also seen adverts for cliceyewear but they are getting pricey.

Anyone able to share experience with this type of glasses?

I have both of those and they are fantastic from a practical point of view but neither are exactly appealing, best go for discrete black. Magneteyes I find most comfortable but are obviously cheap. Clic are far better made exactly reflecting the price difference but I do find they get uncomfortable after a while as they squeeze my melon a tiny bit.

I’m not aware of any more stylish versions and I’m not sure I care that much as I slide comfortably into senility 👴

Stop reading, steeple your fingers and stare into the distance when you speak. People will think you are profound.

Thanks @r_b - it's good to hear from someone with knowledge of both options. Even with the longer arms I found the magneteyes band a bit restrictive on my melon-sized head, so it sounds like the clic glasses would be even smaller ?

Do they require a metal bar up your nostril?

I just went for varifocals in the end, saves me taking them off and or looking over the tops.

My BiL kept his on a neck strap, it's too old a look for my fragile ego tho.

I spent too much in an independent, have an online recommendation for next time.

The frame has to be fairly substantial in order to fit neodymium magnets in that are strong enough to hold the two halves together.
