Isn't going to be very mad, is it?

In the absence of starting drinking about now, necking twenty pints, inadvisedly snogging Louise from accounts (you've not heard the last from her), then being sick on yourself after having an altercation with a lad called Darren outside a kebab house at 2am because he threw a chip at you, whats the maddest thing you'll be doing today then?

I'm considering buying some nice port to go with all the cheese I bought yesterday. Rock and roll!

Whats the level of the debauchery you'll be getting up to today then? Lets hear your tales of potential depravity...

Working...I never get an invite to any work parties (understandably so, if you know me!), so I do my work then go home (or currently log off) and go do my normal stuff...that sounds mad given it is last day for many people.

Watching Agent Carter on Disney+ with a cuppa and a bowl of chilli tonight is about as hard-core as I plan to get

Port sounds a good call, haven't had any for years

Work debauchery used to be limited by the 55 mile drive home

My local pub does "Fish Night" on a Friday so I may wander down for either:

Fish Medley
Paupiettes of sea bream, stuffed fillets of sardines & sautéed garlic king prawns, served with a green salad & fondant potatoes
Or
Daube de Boeuf
A classic French dish of slow braised beef, served in a rich red wine gravy, served with stuffed vegetables & a creamy potato purée

Drag it out so I can have a couple of beers and then walk back for The Manadalorian and the Grand Tour Special.

Or I have a 4 pack of Carling in the fridge and BirdsEye Fish Fingers in the freezer.
So many choices.

It's a toss up between turning the amp up an extra notch during bass guitar practice or having extra black pudding on my lunchtime salad 🤔

Was just talking to my doorman mate and he is very much looking forward to only having to worry about getting actual, rather than figurative claret on him for a change this year.

Been hectic so far.
Walked the dog
Set Abigale of to work
Round trip to 18 Bikes to drop of my forks, went the scenic route via the Strines
Just going to walk the dog again
I've been stockpiling the gin from my Advent calendar so five to go at tonight, may have to top up from the gin cabinet.
Got a slow cooker yesterday so at some point going to have a mess with it

Bit different than last year 🥳

I've not been out on Black Eye Friday for years, too many idiots out for my liking.

Of course things were different when I was one of those idiots.

Today is daddy daycare, just got the boy down for his afternoon nap and about to put Madagascar 3 on with little miss breadcrumb.

I've just had beans AND sausages on toast for lunch.  On WHITE bread!  I will also be cleaning out the guinea pig cage, removing the leaves from the fish pond and bucket washing my eldests filthy PE kit.  Rock and freakin' roll!

I do have one of these to drink though - 11% stouty goodness 🙂

It's Black Eye Friday up in the NE not Mad Friday.

And I'll be...... watching my rugby team on the tellybox. Maybe there'll be some black eyes on the pitch tonight to make up for not going out?

My plan is to get a fire on, open a homebrew beer (that should be ready to drink now) and watch a bit of TV with my GF. If I want to really push the boat out, I may read a bit of a book.

Delivering food in Manc city centre....I imagine that it'll be slightly less terrifying than it would've been had it been a normal one.

Last year I played my first gig of an Alpine tour to about 400 revellers at Cocorico's in Tignes (that was awesome!) Year before I somehow ended up playing at a farmers Xmas do in Nantwich and at one point got pint lobbed at me. I've never actually been a punter at one of these type things....

I'm back at work next week so it'll be like every year or indeed every Friday and most week nights if I'm honest. Home-cooked dinner and a bottle of beer or two. RnR stands for rest and recuperation these days.

I have a works pre-Christmas quiz thing on MS Teams later.

I did buy a nice steak in Sainsbury's the other day which I might have tonight. I'm off from tonight until January 4th, not that I can really go anywhere!

It's seems very few people are off to the pub. Well, my pub at least. Did have a company over the road asking in 12 of them could come for beer and pizza, forgetting that they obviously don't live in the same household.

Given that only 6 of us out of 24 sites can open because the rest are in tier 3 it was always going to be fairly chilled.

Finishing at 4pm to 'relax' at home with the missus and a screaming 11 week old baby. Rock and roll

I’ll be doing some work.
As usual

+1. I’m a hairs breadth away from signing my final contract of the year today, when another client phoned at 7:30 and said “hey, what are the chances we could negotiate and agree a 5yr contract before Christmas Eve?” Usually a 4-6week process.

Christmas Eve then, is Port & Cheese day for me.

Well, I've been out of work since March so bit short on invites.
Pubs are shut here anyway.

So far I've re-attached the window skoosher on my van and applied for a couple of jobs.
This afternoon I will be doing some practice exams for the SCRUM Master qualification, going to the gym and watching X-Files with some leftover Chinese takeaway. Not my leftovers, someone else's. Welcome to the dole!

Never did Mad Friday back in the day. Even less inclination to do it now as a grumpy middle-aged teetotaller! Just the thought of standing in pubs makes me angry, never mind the thought of standing in pubs, waiting ages to get served and not being able to hear any of your mates anyway...

Having had the 'pleasure' (really not a pleasure whatsoever when you are the one the other side of the bar) of 25 years of Mad Fridays or Black Eyed Fridays, well up until 10 years ago anyway, I will no doubt be doing the same as I did last year...working til 5pm, driving home, opening the red wine, and...back to work on Monday.

Our boss has just told us to shut our laptops down after the 'virtual get together' that was at 12. We've just finished.

He called a meeting at 11am, and he really didn't want to, and apologised, and then getting near the end of our meeting said he's had enough, his mind wasn't on it so enjoy Christmas and we'll pick up next year. He really wanted the break - we're shut from today for two weeks.

So I'm about to log off. Got Mandalorian and Star Trek Discovery to watch and the new Grand Tour episode. Will get some vino and pizza for later.

Fish and chips later from a brilliant local chippy.

Let that go down then 40 minutes burying myself on the hastily purchased turbo trainer (currently nursing a broken thumb) then a couple of beers in front of the telly.

With an evening as full as that I am struggling to fit the coke and hookers in...

We'd normally have a few beers in the Uni's owned pub as the boss was buying (out of his pocket) then I'd meet my wife in town for a few drinks, then we'd be on the way home before the party lot came out. Too old to do the Mad Friday.

I was going to do a Zwift session, but fark it ! Rock and Roll.

I did have a Christmas night out in London last year.
It was to some expensive rat-pack style place with giant pizzas the length of the table.

Wasn't the best night out for two reasons:
1) I had just discovered a cyberattack on our organisation an hour before we left for the party, with the CEO and Finance etc accounts all compromised, so was working to re-secure them then figure out how long it had been going on, what the extent of it was. Then getting hassle from everyone for working on my laptop during the Christmas dinner - folks didn't really understand the seriousness of it. See also - having to work during Christmas dinner.

2) My work wouldn't cough up for a hotel so I had to get the train back to Edinburgh after. So an hour on the tube to Kings Cross then onto the train. Weather was bad so the train took 8 hours to get home and had no booze on it anywhere. I'd only had a couple of drinks with work folk (try to avoid a big piss up with work folk in general), and after a very stressful day had been looking forward to reading my book and drinking free first class booze on the way up.

Disappointment.

Well looks like it could be a Mandalorian party given how many are looking forward to the finale. Might see if 'the boss' will let me hook the TV upto the stereo for 'loud' shooting and Tie fighters and stuff ! Whooo

I had plans for a chippy tea and a couple of beers from my advent calendar.

Apparently we aren't having a chippy tea tonight as we are getting a pizza delivered on Sunday for daughter's birthday - I'm not clear how the two are related.

So apparently I'm cooking some other tea for everyone before taking said daughter to a 2 hour gymnastics session - the joys of having her in an "elite" squad. If I then start on the beer tomorrow's morning ride may not happen.

Or I might drop her at training and just go and get myself a chippy tea. That would probably result in a more traditional Black Eye Friday.

I might go off to collect some wood offcuts from my brother's latest building project. Keep the log burner going for a week or so...

Tonight, a G&T and Netflix - currently watching a French police thing, Black Spot - which is confusingly named 'Zone Blanche' in French.

It’s Black Eye Friday up in the NE not Mad Friday

Speaking of the NE I'd even settle for a night out in Sunderland right now. I'd love a seat in front of the fire in the Dun Cow and a pint of Jakehead.

Then off to get 'radicalised' as we used to say, in the Isis.

WFH today - messing about with spreadsheets - need to go to Aldi later, and a walk this eve to tick off another day of 100 days of exercise.

Our usual work Christmas do is a week earlier, but obviously didn't happen this year.
Last year was a typically debauched affair - starting drinking around 11am - asked to leave a pub about 8pm after our sales manager fell down the stairs and cracked his head open.
There may have been some poor decisions made regarding snogging the goth chick from supply chain but to be honest its a bit of a blur..

Roll on Dec-21.

I've just got home after fitting my last wardrobe of the year. I've been mad busy for months so it's a very relaxing feeling.
I'm not to unhappy that I can't have a proper session this afternoon at the Railway Inn because at 4pm, my son is bringing round our 18 month old grandson who's going to spend the night with us, while he and our daughter-in-law can have a comfortable night in before their next child is due in a few weeks.
I'm so looking forward to it!

Most UK universities stop teaching today, which normally means I knock off until the new year. Sadly I'll be working well into next week.

Friday night tho is home quiz/card game/cheating with offpspring evening. I expect this may be the time to crack open the keg of Pelforth I have in the fridge.

Sunday tho, going to the pub after riding. Because, you know Tier-1 🙂

I'm actually glad I didn't have a Xmas piss up this year. Last year we started at about midday and I had a flashback a bit later that I was 21 again and could handle my ale. And Bloody Marys.

I was spewing my ring at 7.30am the next morning and had to go into work. I got a lift with a colleague and her husband and spent the whole journey trying not to chunder in his car.

Not the best.

Nipped in to pick some posh gin up off my mate who owns a bar yesterday. He said that the government have given them a grant of a grand to make up for each pubs lost trade for December

A grand!

He said that on Mad Friday he'd be looking to take three times that over the bar

I know we're all taking the piss about Mad Friday but the pubs need days like this to survive

Yeah it is a strange last day. I normally like this day in the office as it is usually a case of whoever is left takes down the decorations and de-camps to the pub at about 12pm. I work in a University so the pubs by this time near the office are usually nice and quiet and so I prefer the last-day-before-christmas to the actual christmas party which can be pretty full-on.

As it is, I'm going to log-off my laptop in my kitchen and maybe do a home workout. I did treat myself by putting the radio on all day instead of just in the afternoon and also eating a cherry bakewell.

It is the first year in the last 3 that I haven't had exams in January though so at least I don't have to revise tbf.

Don’t work Fridays anyway, played Animal Crossing for three bloody hours then did a ten mile trail run.
But as I’m theoretically finished for three weeks I should go out for a beer. Bars have just reopened round here last week, 8pm closing time and 10pm curfew. So a normal night for me!

and then last year a car used as a weapon, causing life changing brain injuries in cleckheaton

yourguitarhero - Your post reminded me of the bad decisions I made 2 years ago. I had the problem of work christmas gathering in London and daughters nativity play at 8:30am in Edinburgh the next morning. I really needed to do both, so Sleeper it was then.
As we approached the German beer hall I reminded myself I needed to leave at about 10pm to get to the train and also not get tanked.
I failed by getting into the Schnapps.
at 10:30 I remembered the train, somehow I got to Euston and was eventually persuaded into my sleeper, since occupancy thankfully. I made it into the top bunk in my pants, during the night i woke up for a pee. Confused where i was I eventually tried to get down the ladder and was left hanging by my pants on the ladder, drunk, on a moving train. As my brain processed that my pants spectacularly ripped and I hit the deck while hitting the sink itself on the way down. Impressive.
I eventually got back into bed somehow and woke up in Waverley. After thinking i'd lost my phone (down back of bed) i managed to stumble off and get breakfast in Burger King.
By the time I got to school I was feeling a bit more 'myself' however you did not need to be Poirot to work out I was vho.
Thankfully the attention on me was diverted to another Dad who threw up at the back of the sports hall, nice of him to do that !!
Anyway. I hope that explains some of my poor Xmas decisions. No Louises from accounts were involved.

Taking my amazing thank you gifts home is the raddest thing I'll be doing today.

Scotland give their NHS workers a £500 thank you for battling through this year, we got an advent calendar....on the 18th of December

Still, at least it's chocolate & I'm here to eat it, thousands aren't 😟

It’s Black Eye Friday up in the NE not Mad Friday

It’s both those Builders Day and Radge Friday depending what area. It was Mad Friday where I grew up, Builders Days just up the road, Black Eye Friday just down the road and Radge Friday where I live now.

Eddiebaby – nice one! Is the OOF still running? I do miss that bike, it was great fun.

Sadly I sold that to get a Fatty Trail with a Bluto. Hated it and bought another OOF. It lives in a Weymouth and is very happy.
