I have soon to acquire an old lathe and a small milling machine 🙂 I have used both types of machine in the past, but never with much training. The machines I'm getting are both very old, will need converting from 3 phase to single, and will probably need a fairly comprehensive refurbishment. There seems to be lots of different STW-type websites for machinists, the question is which is best? I'm sure I will have lots of newbie questions over the next few months (years?).

Cheers,

Not sure about forums but when you are up and running this site is the Sheldon Brown equivalent of machining/engineering:

You could maybe look at using a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to run the 3 phase machines on single phase.

OP

If sometime in the future you can stretch to a Digital readout,it really breathes new life in to old machines DRI
