Popped up on my feed yesterday that it was released 43 years ago yesterday. Haven't listened to it for a good few years so popped it on this morning. What an amazing record!

Agreed it’s possibly the perfect punk rock album.

I saw The Damned supported by The Ruts on the promotional tour for this, Digbeth Civic Hall, Brum 1979. A truly wild event. Loved The Ruts, still do.

Nearly got decapitated by Rat Scabies swinging his bass drum around at the front of the stage as I was on someone's shoulders, missed by CMs.

Great days those, until the Skinheads arrived on the scene.

It's a stunning album. One of my all time favourites. My mate who played guitar in a Damned tribute band for years and now plays for the Rezillos refers to this as part of the holy trinity (MGE / Strawberries / Black).

The Damned are on their original line up tour at the moment and whilst everyone is gushing over that i have to point out that their best work was indeed after Brian James left.

I saw The Damned sometime in the early nineties (IIRC) at Leeds Uni. They were back with the original line-up and it was after Captain Sensible had released 'Happy Talk'. In between every song they played, the whole venue was breaking out in song 'Happy talkin', talkin', happy talk, Talk about things you'd like to do!'

Dave Vanian was very pissed off with the whole affair - great fun 😂😂😂

Phantasmagoria will always have a special place in my heart but would agree with MGE / Strawberries / Black Album holy trinity comment.

I've now got a notion to listen to all three back to back. Loud.
Thanks for re-sowing that seed!

Also, one of the first bands I saw live. Must have been around 1992, so thirty years ago. I thought they were ancient then, and they'd only been around for about 15 years!!!

Ladies & Gentlemen, ‘owdo

Great album, must make sure I’ve got it in my iTunes rather than just my original vinyl copy from back in the day

Nibbled to death by an okapi

Edit: yes, it’s in my iTunes. Some listening matter for later
