Today I think I mucked up.
Just back from holiday and took a load of photo's on my "good" camera. All happy. All fine. Great holiday.
The SD card reader I have is a USB-A plugged into a USB-C via an adaptor. (new USB-C one just ordered) This is temperamental and causes the card reader to eject at inopportune moments, as described below.
I just highlighted photos from the holiday, selected create new folder with selection. I was in process of renaming this folder when the disk accidentally ejected.
Now going into the SD card folder, all highlighted holiday photos appear gone. Bugger.
Is there a file recovery app or process in which I can recover the holiday snaps?
Yours hopefully,
Village idiot.
Silly question, but have you checked the trash while the card is plugged into your Mac?
Don't think they will have been actually deleted unless you've overwritten the card with something else. I've had success with file recovery software before, can't remember the name now - will try and check.
Thanks all - I know they won't have been deleted, only the registry will have lost the address for the new folder. However I also know that downloading random file recovery software from the internet is a sure fire way to inadvertently get some Ransomware software installed for bigger problems.
I've got a proper USBC SD card reader coming from Amazon so will have another play about this evening.
I had a look at the software Graham recommended, but it doesn't look like it works with Mac OS Big Sur OS
Can you see the pics if you put the card back in the camera?
Can you plug the camera+card in to the Mac and see them/copy them from there?
Get a mate with a PC to see if they can see the pics on the card?
