Hello, any advice about this for a luddite.
I have a Macbook Air running on 'Mountain Lion'.
I did not upgrade to 'Yosemite' due to all the reported issues.
Have all the bugs been fixed now?
Should I upgrade to 'El Capitan'?
Thanks, Neil.
I upgraded my 6yr old MacBook Pro last week - no issues so far and straightforward install.
I didn't have any issues with Yosemite either.
+1 for the same question (though on a iMac running Mountain Lion).
I'd like to be able to use Sketchup, which requires 10.9.whatever.
No issues for me on 2011 MBP - any particular software you're concerned about?
Thanks all.
I have an issue with iphoto crashing, within a second or two of opening. I was hoping an upgrade would fix this.
My Bluetooth speaker now doesn't pair
Neilwheel - given iphoto is replaced by the entirely new Photos app, you should be fine.
Im a big fan of creating a boot usb stick of major os releases and then installing a new install onto a formatted disk rather than upgrading. Not so much because the installer is flakey but becuse it clears out all the bad decisions I've made on the laptop since the last tine i did it.
Plenty of articles online how to do this. Anyone in norfolk is welcone to borrow my usb stick ready to roll.
This process might be why my laptop is still nice and whizzy and isnt causing me errors.
Rachel
Thanks Rachel.
I'll go for the upgrade.
never had any issues with upgrades from Lion onwards. Currently on El Cap.
On a 6.5 year old iMac, slow before upgrade last week, to be able to access a new iPhone 6s, and slow after too... But prettier. 🙂
All done and seems fine. Thanks all.
My partner had loads of problems with Yosemite and lost a lot of contacts from her phone too.
As I don't know how to fix these kind of issues, 'proceed with extreme caution' seems to work well for me.
I just upgrade in the hope that the new system fixes the old one.
Early 2006 macbook with 2gb ram is un upgradable... new macbook pro on order... win !
