I am for the first time in years going on a holiday in April and have only just thought that I'll need some luggage to stick my stuff in for traveling. I've no idea what size I'll need or if I'd be better with hard sided or soft but if anyone of you regular travellers has any recommendations for reasonably priced luggage (so probably not Antler or Samsonite) I'll try and work it out from there. I'm not going far but it does involve a couple of flights if that makes any difference.
Go to tkmaxx and pick something in your price range that you like. If it's carry on luggage you are after check the rules of your airline and take a tape measure.
Whatever is cheap and wheeled from Argos is fine for occasional trips. Extend out handle is much easier than the mega basic drag by the handle on the end. Egg:
Should last a couple of trips and you won't cry if it gets dirty of bagged handlers pull wheels off.
I've got one of these from Decathlon - it can either work as hand luggage (40L, fits in overhead bin) or checked luggage if you need to open the zips and expand it to 60L. Nice tough fabric and more comfortable to carry than the classic TNF duffel.
I prefer to avoid wheeled bags unless I'm bringing a really heavy bag, as there's more parts that can fail and they're annoying on any surface that's not a perfect smooth pavement or the inside of an airport.
We've got a variety of different sized cases from https://www.luggagex.com/ , have been very good (did have to replace a couple of wheels last year, but they were cheap and it was after a decade of use). They handily fit inside each other for storage in the loft too 🙂
We've got a bunch of eastpak transvers bags which have lasted a decade of a few trips a year each - so probably 50+ flights without any issue. Not cheap though
Thanks for the replies, I'll have a good look at lunch time tonight
It does kind of depend on what sort of travelling you're doing (business or leisure), they type of hotels you're staying in, and how you're moving around.
I hate suitcases, especially the wheeled sort. But if you're doing nothing but getting from home - cab - tiled airport - cab - hotel they're fine. If you're going to have to walk anywhere or use public transport I'd go with a travel rucksack every single time.
If you're going carry on only then rucksack straps/waist belt eat into your space. Those Forclaz bags are really useful - you can carry them hands free when you need to (but without a waist belt I'd not want to do so for long or with a lot of weight)
YMMV. In Thailand recently saw people dragging huge wheeled suitcases along a sandy beach....
You want luggage, this is the Luggage you need!

If you can find any really old second hand North Face Duffels then get one of then. Mine is still going strong after 25 years. Alas the other 7 newer ones are a bit shit and falling apart
rucsac for me.

I bought one of these after a recommendation off here. Looks brilliant and seems well made. Bought at wardow.com which seems to heavily discount a wide range of stuff.
Eastpak here too, buy off Vinted and save a few quid.
Again thanks for the replies, just ordered a couple of Eastpaks from Wardow that @politecameraaction linked as they had a fair bit of money off and i found a code for an extra 10%.
@CountZero im not sure if i used that luggage id ever get my things back 🙂
