Any recommendations for a nice place for a family weekend either Borders or Dumfries/Galloway. If it is near some cycling stuff then all the better.

We had a night here a few weeks ago.
Great family room, bike friendly and lovely breakfast.
Can thoroughly recommend it.

not quite 'borders' unless you're a Roman legionary stationed at Vindolanda, but Langley Castle is rather nice. About 5 miles from Hexham.

Thanks John. Langley is rather nice but about five mins down the road 🙂

I was thinking there might be some credit crunch offers on but maybe I'm not the only one!

Kirroughtree House Hotel was a hotel of the year a few years ago. Somewhat obviously its right next to Kirroughtree.

The hotel at Mabie ( Mabie House ??), right next to start of trails is nice too.

Criffel Inn is close to Mabie as well.

The Cardrona across the road from Glentress is fab. Lots for the kids, pool, gym, golf and did I mention across the road from Glentress and 3 miles from Innerliethen? Some good natural riding on the other side of the valley as well. Quite expensive but willing to do a deal on BB & evening meal which is also very good. Not as stuffy an attitude as some big hotels.
