A new series of The Lovecraft Investigations on Sounds!
Genuinely the best thing I've ever heard on radio, start with The Case of Charles Dexter Ward if you can and work through......but not if you're of a nervous disposition.
It's bloody terrifying. 🙂
Great cast, exceptional writing and an amazing use of sound.
No Spoilers! We're really looking forward to this series. Bit of a massive cliffhanger at the end of the last one.
Really like the way it's done, as you say great acting, writing and lots of atmospheric sound.
Oh fab! Thanks for the heads up. After The Shadow Over Innsmouth I thought that was it and there wouldn't be any more episodes. Heawood disappeared, Kennedy alone and disenchanted with the whole escapade, I expected that to be the last of it!
I really like the sound design and storytelling in this programme, it's very immersive. I thought the Charles Dexter Ward series was excellent; the Innsmouth series not quite so much, but still very good.
Will give this one a try, thanks!
Hmm, first episode is the usual list of names, characters and barely comprihensible family trees.
But then........
..........bring it on.
I have a couple of days off, an understanding wife , some nice booze and a really good set of headphones.
Genuinely the best thing I’ve ever heard on radio
Amen. I went through series 1-3 on my own, then with my son, then again with all my family on a summer holiday drive to France, and I’m genuinely wondering how soon I should begin again 😀
For anyone who hasn’t found it already, this prequel-ish series is great too:

yes was really worried there'd be no new series !!
its been incorporated into the 'pleasant green universe'
which is more than just mythos

Careful, Kimbers. It’s an Echelon trigger.
I’m really hoping that Guillermo del Toro revives his plan to make a Lovecraft film - based on what he did with Pan’s Labyrinth, I’ll probably only ever watch it once, but it’ll really be worth seeing.
I’m not really a fan of radio adaptations, tbh.
It’s not an adaptation as such. It’s more original material written for radio that’s based on Lovecraft mythology. The script is stunning - the writer’s knack for dialogue is incredible.
