At work 'we' have lost the only key to an old Mitsubishi Pajero. The immobiliser has been disabled. As it is a grey import, is it possible to get a replacement??

The best thing to do with a Pajero is keep the key lost and just forget about it. 😕
That's probably true, but I don't fancy telling our tree planters that they have a rather long walk every day!
I can't see there being a big uptake on Cycle to Work by them.....
If it's been well used have you got other keys/ a screwdriver to try?

I think you'll need to get the whole ignition system replaced, which might be quite expensive..
hot wire it, or better still it may have the security of my dads old lotus the ignition switch used to just pull out off the key barrel.
You do know what "pajero" translates as don't you 😆
A decent locksmith will be able to get in and plug in a computer, read off the required info then cut and program new keys.
I suspect a Pajero will have chip keys, so removing the aftermarket immobiliser isn't the whole story. You're unlikely to be able to hotwire it.
I'd expect to pay around 100 pounds, upwards of that if you're in the south.
Replacement ignition barrel from the scrappy should do it.
More immediately, it is a mechanical movement to create an electrical response, just find which bits need to make the circuit. Have had a few tractors and vans like this.
Somebody at work had lost the red key for their car, why were they using the red key - 'cos they'd already lost the normal key...

Unless it's a chipped key which talks to the immobiliser.
