Yes

I think I will tie Spongebob to my pack & give him a cycle tour of some decent singletrack before letting him on his way...

(Please check your spam box as my e-mail address seems to get confused for spam. It's in my profile, so you can see what to look for...)

Yes please.

Bruders, I have posted on this thread several times but that last picture has absolutely got me more than any other - I am sitting here in tears... I also have to say how much I admire the way you have been able to share this with all of us.

I think your George will look lovely in those clothes...

Thinking of you,

J

bruders,

my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I was going to post earlier but you put up that beautiful picture of your babies together and i nearly broke down in the middle of my office.
I've never witnessed anything like the outpouring of love and support from strangers through this forum and hope it helps you in even the most minute of ways.

I'll be taking the day off to go have a ride where i used to play as a little kid in the hills above Hebden and will release the balloon in Georges honour.

Dunno what to say and sorry seems such a pathetic offer. I'm expecting a baby any day now and just cannot comprehend how you and your family are feeling. I'm a long way away but if you ever end up here I will happily provide a large man hug and as much beer as you need.

@mccruiskeen, you've always been one of the good guys on this forum but that was a lovely gesture to the OP. Fist touch from me for that.

Lewis ... On the saving of this thread ….. Sorry fella I'm a technophobe as well.

I have just tried to save each page and then send it over to you in a readable file. But the problem I’ve got is that… I can’t always see the pictures posted up on STW (something to do with work’s interweb security ) so the pictures were not copying.

And to be honest, due to me being rubbish with a computer, the pages looked horrid. Nothing like STW we know and love… ( I was just right clicking and high-lighting the text and copying onto an email )

So all you lovely tech guys or people with have half a clue how to use one of these blasted computer things….. please may we have some help here.

Is it possible for someone to save each page, then send all the pages over to Lewis in a readable file/format ??

Thanks Gents

Depending on whether it's just the content to be kept (I'm assuming sidebar adverts aren't a priority), couldn't you just select the text from each page and dump it into a (e.g. Word) document?

Perhaps the simplest thing is to make screen grabs. I'm on my phone today though so not best placed to give it a go.

Update from the truly outstanding printing factory; order is already in transit for delivery tomorrow. I'll be working from home, so envelopes should be arriving with everyone Friday, all being well.

Plenty left if anyone would like to participate.

I've captured some scrolling screen grabs of pages 1 + 2 (to do this trial) and set up an online folder where they can be viewed/downloaded.

Linky

Do bear in mind these are big images at approx 7000 pixels in height (to accommodate the length of each page). So when you view them you'll need to zoom in and then all is fine (then naturally scroll up and down as if you were viewing them as a web page).

Have also cropped out the STW logo and ad column.

Bruders, let me know if this is the type of thing you're looking for. If so, I'll capture the rest and get them uploaded. If not, give me an idea of what you'd like and I'll have another crack. Likewise let me know if you need any technical help with downloading/unzipping etc.

Man hug on the way fella!

EDIT: you have the option to download individual images or the entire folder (which arrives as a zip).

EDIT: ignore the "Learn more about Box" popup when downloading - you don't need to click that or sign up for anything.

EDIT: Bruders, if you want to keep the original forum formatting and makes the content fully searchable, then check out Evernote. You can grab each page and store/label/tag them etc. As above, if you want a hand with this just shout.

Bruders338,
Don't often get on here, but now i'm sat with the tears welling up and my sincere and heartfelt condolences go to you and your family. It seems too tragic and unfair for words, but i hope time will help it become bearable. I know i'll hug my daughter just that little bit tighter this evening when i kiss her goodnight.
The balloons are a great idea so i'd add me as a "yes" to that.

I've not seen this thread before, but came across it yesterday.

It's awful what you're going through, it's such a horrible f***ed up situation. I'm so sorry for your loss.

That's all I can say really, my thoughts are with you and your family.

You're remarkably brave.

If we ever meet and ride together I'll be the one buying you a beverage.

Stay strong.

JoeG = sorry it took a while but thank you for the idea of the balloons and to you bearnecessities for putting this beautiful idea into practice... because of this the school of Alfie and Mae was told about this lovely guesture via a parent who read this thread and they also are going to release some balloon for George.

As a thank you i currently have something in the pipe line to say thank you to you all but will take a little time to put together your all brilliant people.

thank you

Hey up Lewis. Really don't know what to say, other than sorry. I know it probably feels like your heart will never stop breaking, but it will, in time. It doesn't always get dark at five o clock, as my dad used to say. Take care of you and yours, and I'll think of George when I look at the moon. Cheers, Mitch

I lost my sister to drowning when I was 4. I can remember it as clear as day (now 32) My mother says her biggest regret was not taking me to the funeral or full explaining it to me.

Be there for your Wife and kids, Listen to them and hear their needs. Find strength in each other.

I am now a father of 5 and can not imagine the pain you are going through. I have lost many friends and family and all I can tell you is that it gets easier. Stay strong, be true to yourself and your family.

My Sincerest Condolences

Dave

sorry to hear of your loss Bruders, my deepest condolences to you and your family. i can't begin to imagine what you and your family are going through right now.....what you're going through is something no parent should have to go through.
the responses from some pretty amazing people on STW have restored my faith in humanity again and i can only thank your dear son for that. he has touched our lives in more ways than you can imagine.
as a parent of a 5 year old and a 7 month old, it felt like my heart had been ripped out of me when i read what had happened.
little George will always be with you and your family and he'll be up there in heaven watching down on you all...
in a way i can sense your pain as next friday it will be my birthday but for the last 10 years i've never really felt like celebrating as a week either side are the anniversaries of my parent's deaths. tomorrow is my mum's so i'll say a little prayer for George too. after my dad died i also learnt that i had a brother who died at childbirth, but my mum would never really talk about it as it still hurt her even after 40 years...it hurt that i never even knew about him but i knew it hurt my mum and dad even more so i never pushed my mum for more information on the older brother i never had, but i'm glad you've managed to take the time to explain to your kids that George is no longer with them...
they say time is a great healer and hopefully this will be true for you. take care and be strong for one another.

Lewis, I have been following this thread from the beginning, but I can't find any better words than people have posted already. I love the picture of George and Emily on the playmat, although it makes me cry every time I look at it. I'm sure he and your mum are your family's special guardian angels now.
The tattoo is great as well by the way! Take care x

Oh, Jeez.....
Just seen the balloon. It was probably mentioned at some point, but I missed it; I didn't realise he was so young...... 🙁

not that any age would be 'alright'. But.....just....but...?!!?!

Just need to think of a suitably fitting ride to take him on....

Lewis,

I'm riding Hit The North on the 16th, it'll be the closest ride I'll get to the funeral. If its ok with you I plan to ride a lap with my balloon attached to my bike and then at an appropriate place I'll stop, take a moment and release it.

Hope thats ok with you?

I've been reading this thread since you started it, stuck for words & welling up each time you post (or someone else posts up a moving story)

Anyway, I'm sat here with my little girl hanging off my ankles & although I'm still stuck for words I thought I'd share the picking her up & squeezing her that bit more - I'd been doing it unconsciously all week.

Anyway, I'm off to NZ in less than a week, but I'd love to take a balloon & let it off for you while I'm away

Kudos for being so open about this - I'd be in bits

Mark

+1

I nearly didn't go to work this morning because my 4yo got upset I couldn't sit with him and watch star wars before immediately I left. Before this thread it would might have been trivial but now seems to have massive importance.

Still thinking of you all and will be doing so on the day.

Balloons received in Stockport. Thanks again bearnecessities.
Have been inspired to buy 6yr old daughter her first proper mtb this week. We are heading out to Ladybower next weekend to release the balloons. Can't stop cuddling her or her two younger siblings. Keep smiling Bruders, and never underestimate how much poor George's story has opened other people's eyes. Thinking about you lots (and lots), Orm.

I had work phone me yesterday (royal mail) asked if i was ok then said (not directly) but asked when i would return to work..

I did think going back would be a good idea but currently i dont think i can face people right now.
Its not as if they are paying me (not worked a full year so only entitled to 5 days worth which i know is better than some firms so grateful for that)

is this a catch 22 or am i just being lazy??

Hardly lazy mate; only you know your own state of mind, you'll make the right choice I'm sure.

As you know though, there's something to be said for trying to re-establish your routine for the sake of yourself (and others); facing people may only get harder as the more time passes.

Another here who has been thinking of you and your family every day. I look forward to receiving my balloon so that my daughter Liliana can be a part of something special. I know that it will bring her joy, and hope that the photo I will send for the memory box can bring some measure of comfort to you.

After Gordons contribution, I asked my wife to draw a picture of George sitting in a willow tree. Here's a copy, I can send a better one to your email. We'd like to post the picture too if you'd want to have it.

All our love,

Rich, Maria and Liliana
