I still have the odd place that will only take loose change (pound coins etc) such as the local hospital, getting to the bank can be a pain if they're open, so does anyone know if the is a 'loose change' service in the net?

Do I understand this right, you want to order coinage over the internet? Blimey.

I offer a very reasonably priced service where I post you a selection of change worth ten pounds, for just twenty pounds.

I thought this was the only reason shops still had racks of mints or gum near the till.

I just collect loose change when I buy stuff from the shops with a note. Always make sure I've got a few quid in £1 coins and 50ps etc lying around for parking etc.

I can't recall ever going to the bank specifically to withdraw loose change - seems a very convoluted process for something that is readily available at any corner shop, post office, supermarket or chippy around the country.

Pitch the arse out of this on Dragons Den.

“I’ll give you 30% for £25,000 in 5p and 10p pieces”

Go to the arcades, they have change machines for whatever denomination you like

I just use the self serve tills in Tesco and buy one stick of chewing gum with a £10 note and repeat until I have enough change (normally for car parks in the Lake District).

I was thinking the other day I'd like to be able to mail order a wad of £5 for giving to homeless people every time I pass them. Having not carried any cash for a couple of years I've started carrying it again just to give to them, as there seem to be so many now.

The homeless people near us will accept PayPal friends and family.

Buy a huge pack of these and head down to your local supermarket.

The only reason I still routinely use cash, as I never know if the machine will take card or that functionality will actually be working.

Though I haven't seen a self-serve till still taking cash since pre-Covid. I'm thinking it'll stay that way since it's a good excuse to save on cash handling costs.
