The suns up and blasting already, still a chill in the air though. Looks to be a perfect spring day for some pedals but my bike has been kidnapped by laddo!
After a day of patio jetwashing yesterday I think a big walk out with the dog is in order and maybe a cheeky pint....
Sitting on the sofa watching Tom&Jerry with my son.
Feeling like I’ve been run over but at least my face seems to have stop leaking non stop mucus.
Just back from an hour walking the dogs on the hills. Having breakfast then of to Vegan Valley, probably thornielee, to try my luck.
laid up with bronchitis like i have been for the last 10 days. ace.
Ride some trails in Friston forest which will be running fast then plant out my tomatoes as hopefully that was the last frost and they are flowering already so need putting in their big pots.
Skipton Triathlon.
A kiddo's rugby festival... so am hoping that the sun stays out and the forecast wind doesn't appear...
3-4 hour ride with my mate Joe 😄 showing him 2 new trails I built last week, and a couple of newly discovered ones too.
Then this arvo it's decking time.
Not sure, depends how the wife's hangover is from her Friday night out. May cycle out to our for a beer or 2 if she's rubbish, but it WSB, MotoGP, Liverpool Chelsea and not forgetting Paris Roubaix.
Friday night hangover!!! Good girl, nothing like going all in so it removes Saturday all together 😂
Yokal ride, around a few cheeky dusty trails in east Leeds 🤫
Paris-Roubaix, obvz.
Packing for a trip to Borrowdale for a few days of running around Whinlatter and the lakes.
Bit of stretching.
Play guitar.
Pack running gear.
Eat breakfast.
Turn hot water off.
Put lamb in oven, must not forget mint and garlic..
Fill bird feeders (greedy buggers 😵)
Strim lawn 🥴
Wash roadster.
Go to Waitrose for some wine.
Pack car.
Head Norf.
I've just lit the fire. 🙂
Down at Afan for the weekend and round one of the National Enduro series. Been hot and sunny all weekend. Early start for the riders before we grab breakfast and wander round the stages
same as funkynick, but I expect a different Jr Rugby festival. Off to Luctonians Anglo Welsh Festival for the day with my U12s. Got my whistle ready.
Hoping to actually get out on the road bike to give me a break from riding the rollers all the time. Will probably end up having to do a load of boring stuff like lawn mowing too though. Would love to hear over to Woburn to ride some proper trails but doubt I'll have time. It looks great out there!
work 🚒
Looking like a really dry week and in to the weekend, definitely having some pedals over the Easter weekend, race prep required for laddo who makes his enduuurroo debut the weekend after!
Setting off for a week in various bits of 🏴
Still getting over the lurgey so a bit of gardening and a slow dog walk.
Cleaning this morning. Bacon sandwich shortly. Taking the kids and wife to country park playground this afternoon. Pub tea with family afterwards. It's new bike day for me too 😃😃🚲👈🚀🚀 so I'll have to find time to fettle that and plans to end the day at Cannock with my mate this evening. Could be worse 😉
Watering Soaking the newly turfed lawn. No pedalling or walking far for at least another week after my knee arthroscopy last Saturday.
Finishing off an illustration then off out on the bike for a local jaunt. Then cutting the hedge
Typing that, I've just realised that I've inadevrtently become a Half Man Half Biscuit album....

Sweating out last night's gin.
Loitering in the woods and hills watching DofE groups.
-2 the last couple of nights in the tent.
Outdoors will have to wait. It's Paris - Roubaix.
My missus wrote off yesterday after a big friday...hahahaha.
Today I'm doing a little work before packing for a week back home whilst watching Paris Roubaix .Hopefully listen to match in the car.
@Bikebouy - wave if you see an old black p7 trundling around whinlatter/skiddaw region. 🙂
I’ve been doing coursework since 6! Just waiting for the wife to surface and then we will go out for some food.
Same thing I have been for the last 9 months, willing my foot to heal itself so I can ride my bike 😫
Is it still not right Tom?
There’s still a 7x3mm crack in the skin on the ball of my foot that has stayed about static for the last few months. Which is all the more frustrating as it’s so small (relative to the 7x3 inch hole 9 months ago), but I don’t want to risk setting it back any.
Riding over to, and then up, Portland.
As soon as I slung my leg over the bike, sun goes in and rain and hail showers, with a cold blustery wind. Trails still dusty though 👍🏼
Went for a morning ride, knocked 15 seconds off my PR for a 16 minute climb. Was quite pleased. Came home, ate a big plate of spicy ribs and chips, plus some beer. Now blasting out really vile farts. Life is good.
Went for a ride, did some yoga, and then walked to the shops. At the shops I discovered that this is asking too much of my legs and I had a very slow, cane (it lives in my bag) assisted, walk home. So the rest of the day shall be spent not moving much - maybe some coding but maybe not. Have an idea for something that I want to make...
Butterfly Farm in Stratford for the big-un's 7th birthday 😊
Was supposed to be working running a charity abseil at Spinnaker Tower.
Wind at 100m was around 20mph though (and -2 with wind chill at 7:30!) so unable to continue safely. Means I’m now sat at home eating home made sausage rolls...
Same as yesterday, at work. 🙁
Can't really complain though as I had a long weekend off last weekend in Belgium for the Tour of Flanders. And it's pub quiz tonight.
Did hereford duathlon this morning, it’s always good to remind myself why I ride mountain bikes and not road bikes 99% of the time. Was Very windy here today as well.
I'd love to be out but I'm feeling totally shite, so I'm sitting on my sofa listening to tunes finishing last nights bottle of whisky
Just back from a road ride. Took a minute off my PR up man nick. Must have been the hail at the top spurring me on. Nice brunch in grasshopper cafe in hope.
Now the last 90k of Paris-Roubaix to watch.
Just back from 55km in Entre Deux Mers with Mrs S. I’m nominally working! Leffe Blonde at La Réole in a bar with Paris Roubaix showing at lunchtime. Early doors it was damp and cold the sun is out and we’re basking in the glow of a job well done. Please don’t hate us.
Ride to Portland into the gale and dropped food off to Barbie at the castle. Then went into The Royal Breakwater at Castletown. Walk through the door and literally bump into a guy who lives 3 doors down the road from me near Didcot. Much confused looks followed. Turned out he was supposed to be diving but the winds put paid to that idea. Very small world.
Rode back with the tailwind and later borrowing a bike and heading over to the quarries for fun in the evening.
Just got back from taking the kids round the Science Museum. Good day out but now recovering from the cost of three milkshakes!
After Staunton on Friday evening and Hopton Woods yesterday I took it easy and had a fun day solo at FoD chucking myself down the hillsides.
I've not long got up after Nightshift. About to take dog for a walk to the beach. I think we're going out for food with a couple of friends later and then back to work.
Decent road bike ride this morning, just under 80km locally. Nearly 1000m climbing which wasn't bad, as yesterday I did 29km running in the mountains... BBQ after, then Paris Roubaix, and unfortunately now I seem to have a list of things to sort out at home 🙁
Kids and I have done some fence repair, spur posts and a tip run. Only halfway through though now.
Refereed 3 rugby matches. Feeling very sleepy.
After setting yesterday aside to sort out the flat after heaps of time away it was cutgate today, running really well too
Relaxing after a stupid but fairly painful off yesterday.
went for a walk, sadly that's it
Up early to feed sheep and lambs, then down to Wentwood for a 3 hour MTB orienteering event. Unbelievably dry and fast running trails in an area I haven't ridden before really. Had a great time and cleared the course to finish a respectable 3rd. Back home to feed the sheep and lambs. Now had my tea and will have to go out to feed the sheep and lambs in a minute. I see a pattern emerging!
Went for a walk round @54.157339,-1.1156332,13.67z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xdd92f5be552218f!8m2!3d54.1659719!4d-1.1048281">Yearsley Woods. Prime gravel bike trails if anyone is local, although you may end up doing laps.

64km local ride checking out the trails for the arrival of the molgrips family 🙂

The pair of zero-gravity garden chairs my g/f bought me for my birthday last year are showing their rather shoddy finishing by going rusty wherever there’s a weld, or a fitting, so I was out with a brush and can of rust treatment paint. Not the best paint job I’ve ever done, but I really couldn’t be arsed to undo the elastic cords and spray it. It’ll do for a while.
Then it was turning over the compost bin with my custom fork, go on a dandelion hunt and kill spree, put out the food for the hedgehogs, plant out some Fritillaries I bought earlier this week, then go pick up my g/f from work.
It was bloody cold out in the garden, despite being south-facing and fairly sheltered, and me wearing about five layers.
Still, quite satisfying just pottering about doing stuff.
Rode at FOD with the biggest group of mates we’ve put together in, hit a tree but just a small scrape and bruise, then sat in the pub listening to my mate telling tales of his shenanigans in Thailand last month.
I rode my first organised bike event in years. Me and Mrs Llama did a sportive in the New Forest. She got a ‘gold’ time despite starting cycling less than a year ago and riding further than she had ever gone before. Well proud. It was cold and windy.
Took the Mrs, kids & dog on a tour of the Peak District - no bikes today.
Went to Carsington to watch the birds & give the dog a walk.
Then up to Castleton & Hope for a bit of a walk - mooched in one of the caves at Winnats Pass.
Then over to Glossop and down Snake Pass to Ladybower and Derwent to give the dog a bit more of a walk and had a bacon & sausage sarnie before heading back home.
@phil5556 I’m not great, but your asking touched me. Thank you
Hope things improve for you, look after yourself.
Ended up having something pathetic like ~10mins cycling around the block at 1800, while attempting to positively tweak gear shifts on the commuter ready for this morning, the ongoing lurgy with almost a week of bad night's sleep left me in no state to head out after catching up on some fish tank water changing.
Looking forward to the second half of this week, Met Office is predicting 18C+ from Thursday in Southampton. \o/
