We are looking at houses at the moment and looking in the south of leeds kinda location but we don't really know what the areas are like. Really don't have a big budget but there seems to be some interesting places in Middleton, Morley and Rothwell. Does anyone have experiances of these places or any others that should be avoided or ones we should look at.

Cheers

Good suggestions but they are a bit further south than we can manage.

Haven't lived in Leeds for a while, so this is probably out of date. Still...

Rothwell and Woodlesford are generally okay, as are some parts of Morley. Middleton less so.

Why South Leeds? North Leeds is nicer imo.

Don't know much about south leeds but avoid Beeston at all costs.

Hunslet, Holbeck, Beeston, Middleton, West Ardsley - avoid
Morley, Tingley, East Ardsley - fine
Carr Gate, Wrenthorpe, Outwood, Stanley - fine

I thought it had to be a commute timing thing... no doubt the north of the city is nicer than the south.

+1 for MRanger's Beeston comment. It is fairly grim and the pubs are out of bounds to everyone who isn't from South Leeds. 😡

Avoid beeston dewsbury and batley. I would struggle to recommend morley. Can't really comment on the others.

Adding to John Drummer post.

Hunslet, Holbeck, Beeston, Middleton, West Ardsley, Wortley - avoid
Morley, Tingley, East Ardsley, Gildersome, Churwell, Woodkirk - fine
Carr Gate, Wrenthorpe, Outwood, Stanley, Garforth - fine

There are some small pockets of nice places in the avoid areas but you're surrounding by not so nice places and that's the way your insurance company will see it too.
All the fine areas have some dodgy estates like any other city, if in doubt ask.

Again why South Leeds?

Avoid crossing the M62 south of Leeds as it will seriously extend your commute which is a shame as there are some nice really nice places along the A62.

Def avoid Batley Dewsbury. Only places that make Bradford look nice 😉

Work is on the south edge of leeds is the only reast i was thinking of sticking down there. didn't fancy crossing leeds every day at rush hour.

I also didn't know there was a north south devide so might start looking north.

I used t go out with a girl from Dewsbury - Hanging Heaton I think it was. That area seemed quite nice - but as you drop down the hill towards the centre... :-O

Rothwell

Or Oulton

You don't want to be using the m621 northbound in a morning
