Good evening!

I am looking for a smar****ch. I think.

Currently have a suunto traverse that does OK. Had it for a few years. It's a pretty dumb smart watch and not capable of a lot. Dreadful navigation. Very little beyond tracking and displaying notification previews. It tracks steps but doesn't even store this information anywhere... bizarre.
So I guess I don't actually know if I would use much more than that as its never been an option.
However it has been very rugged. Its taken a fair few knocks and whilst not perfect it's held up very well.

I have a garmin 830 head unit for tracking cycling and navigation (mainly using Komoot) so that's all covered.
I am not in training as such and I do very little other exercise but I intend to change that. I have started using a rowing machine recently and I go swimming occasionally.

I feel like I should get a garmin as it will tie in nicely with Connect, and all my exercise will be in one place with only one app to Learn to use... and I already know how to use it!
With this in mind I was looking at the Venu 2. Seems perfect. Decent battery life. Lots of smart functions. Lots of tracking options. But it feels cheap. Might just be because its so light.
Fenix 6 seems like the only other garmin option. I feel its OTT for someone who pretty much only cycles and has a head unit for that anyway.

Also considering samsung watch 4 classic however the battery life is a worry. Huawei Watch 3 is also attractive, as is ticwatch.

Anyone got any wisdom they'd like to share on smart watches?

Any others I should consider?

I should probably add that I use a Samsung phone to apple watch isn't an option.

Just got a Fenix 6 Pro, refurbed to as new condition with 2 year warranty for £319. One week in and it's brilliant. I'm using it all the time where I just thought I'd use it for sport tracking.

I upgraded from a Samsung Watch Active to full 46mm Galaxy Watch. The bigger screen and battery life are better, the spinny bezel rarely gets used. All else being equal I wouldn't pay have that feature again.

Thanks very much.

I'll check out those threads.

That Fenix 6 refurb deal is looking pretty tasty.

I hadn't considered the 945, will look at that too.

Cheers,

Another one that caught eye was withings Scanwatch Horizon, if you can get one. Bit more simplistic on the smart watch side of things but pretty smart looking!

Forerunner 945 is basically a Fenix 6 in a lighter body.

I have recently put up a Garmin 5X in the classifieds - it's brand new and unworn but I was too late to return it to Blacks where I bought it from (I ended up buying two through a problem with ordering/delivery).

Thought thread title referred to smart watch.
My mistake - nothing to say.

Yeah, you probably want a calculator for that.

Is it just me or is the forum not allowing links at the moment.....?

I will post a link as soon as I can, but if you go to the classifieds page and select GPS devices as your category it should be the first item on the list.
