Hey folks.. I'm in the market for a new set. I used to follow the tech years ago but not really in the know anymore about what's good and bad. I've still got my 42" Panasonic plasma from years gone ny but fancy something bigger and newer. Not got a huge budget, probably about £700. Looked at this 'Samsung ue50ju6800' and can get it for 699 with a 5 year guarantee. Would like 4k and possibly curved, not fussed about 3d.. I know this is all probably a big ask. Anyone got any recommendations?

My Panasonic 42" plasma is on the way out and what I have noticed is that the 50" Panasonic LED isn't much bigger due to the huge border around the plasma screen.
Take a look at Richer Sounds http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/samsung/ue48ju6000/sams-ue48ju6000
48" with quite a saving. No idea how good though and not 4k
But for the budget you are looking at this would be worth a look too: http://www.richersounds.com/product/tv---all/panasonic/viera-tx50cx680b/pana-tx50cx680b
I notive philips seem to have launched a new range of 4k with android TV built in like the new sonys. Might also be worth a look at both of those but some people have said the sonys are a bit sluggish (they always are). They look good in store though when have walked past.
Turnerguy will be along shortly to endorse Samsung TVs. 😆

I tried that. It's possibly my inaptitude but I have never managed to get a successful answer to any search I've done using the STW search bar.
Any chance you could put up some recent threads?
Didn't realise richer sounds now did a 6 year guarantee.. that's useful!
I'd ignore most of the advice you'll get on here and go have a look over on AV Forums.
