Whats the craic with this since they made the long term parking pay and display? I need to leave my car in oban for a week while we head for the outer hebrides but all the previous parking recommendations seem to have restrictions and car garage that did long term parking have stopped doing it.
I think I can buy a weekly pass from the council but don't know if that covers overnight parking too.
Can anyone enlighten me?
I asked a short while ago.
In the end we parked in the car park next to the ferry terminal for £5/day. We were fairly lucky to get a space as there was a selfish plank with a camper van taking up/blocking 5 of the limited spaces.
Good mate has built a house in connel, huge drive, gimme a pm if yer struggling, sure he'd let you park for a 4 pack.
If your parking in Connel, it’s free by the station.
Ta. Is it okay in advance at the ferry car park and do they take cards?
Thanks for the offer nobeer but I think connell is a bit far out for us.
I tried hazelbank motors but they have stopped doing parking. Pointed me towards Stoddard's instead.
The car park at the ferry (Harbour Bowl) is run by JustPark - you can pay by phone/app - possibly at a machine too?
For anyone doing this in future, the council have a weekly parking permit scheme that you can buy online for a specific car park. We used Corran Halls 2 which is on the front and has a low access barrier. Corran Halls 1 across the road had a high barrier to allow camper vans.
All done online with no ticket to display. Worked well
My other top tip is to subscribe to text alerts for the ferry. We didn't only blind chance meant I noticed the ferry was leaving three hours early with 5 minutes to spare ...
