I've been on here about 6 years and have often seen " woods behind nationwide " which I'm guessing is a long standing joke like Joe Cocker and Louise.

Can anyone tell me what the woods behind nationwide was all about ?

Thanks

I went there once to find out. It was reasonably good but not worth a specific trip.

I wasn't on the original thread but from what I can tell some neophyte came on raving about how awesome and rad it was, when in fact it's a pretty tiny local park with a very short but decent trail in it....?

Hmm, the nationwide trail is bigger than I thought it'd be. I'm not making a trip from Leeds though...

Running joke, perhaps not specific to STW, seems to be rad gnar pictures from any trail down south may be tagged as Swindon.

If I remember rightly, wasn't there a picture of Robbie Williams in the tabloids riding a mountain bike on the trails in questions.

And so a STW meme was born...

Off to do some research.

Not due until January 2007, we've plenty of time yet.

Just realised I've been on here over 15 years 😕

That’s the issue trying to come up with new jokes and memes is holding everything back.

There's some video footage of Brendog riding the trail before it was destroyed. I'm sorry if you never got to ride it 🙁

There's a sick edit out there somewhere of Brendog riding the woods behind the Nationwide in Swindon. Looks pretty good, definitely worth a visit.

When the answer to every question was either Conti Vert Pro or Inbred........

The tubeless inflation fiasco, that got funnier the more he didn't like it 😀

Only been here 6 years, but just checked my MBUK/Bike Radar login to find I've been spouting bollocks about bikes on the internet for 15 years now.

(Incidentally, I've not been on that forum for about 3 years, but some of the threads there now are the same as were on the various front pages 3-4 years ago, was there a mass walk out?)

On the flipside, I have no idea about most of the references from the last 5-10 years 🙂
