Staying in London tonight with the wife round Regents Park/Euston Rd area. Only been to London once before so don't know the place at all.

Any locals on here that could recommend a nice resturant and a couple of nice real ale pubs in the area. Preferably that we can walk to?

Cheers in advance.

The Bree Louise and the Euton Tap are both very good for real ale, both right next to Euton station. I'll let some one else do food but you're close to Fitzrovia where you should find something, particularly around Charlotte Street.

What's Fitzrovia?

an area between Regent's Park and Soho. In fact, just go into Soho, loads and loads of restaurants.

CFH's recommendation there made me very very merry not so long ago. The merriest I have been in a long time. So merry I forgot to mention it. Beware of the bottles in the fridge! (which technically are not real ale but quite fun trying)

TBH I would walk down Portland Place onto Regents Street
and go to that there Soho(10 min fron Euston rd.)
Alot of interesting boozers ,for example..

Start here,
The Clachan directly behind Libertys on Kingly Street , off Great marlborough has a good pint or three.
Then go here ,
The John Snow?
39 Broadwick Street
Soho, London W1F 9QP ,

This one is the best but perhaps a 20 minute walk .
Coach & horses,
29 Greek Street
London, W1D 5DH.

As for food ....there are loads of places.
Have fun.

Craft + 1, was enjoying their Clerkenwell Pale on Tuesday...

If posh tapas appeals this is near you: http://www.saltyard.co.uk/

(disclaimer - I haven't actually been, but the sister restaurant in Covent G is great: http://www.operatavern.co.uk/)

If you like wine, 28-50: http://www.2850.co.uk/

If you dont want to brave the crowds in Soho (and I love Soho) walk round to Primrose Hill. Beautiful little enclave, The Engineer is a fine old pub with a very good restaraunt. Need to do book though, awfully poular. Good upmarket Sardinian across the road, Sardocanale. Also Lemonia for maybe the best Greek food in London.

Definately pop into the new St Pancras Station, have a pint in the Betjeman Arms and admire the stunning architecture.

That will be the first stop when off the train

Have one in the Betjeman then next door in the Booking Office Bar of the St Pancras Hotel. Beautiful place, all part of the railway station, as is the Betjeman.

Fellas....Charlotte Street? Very close to you, can walk down there and just follow the crowds, many many nice pubs right?

Just get a monocle, you'll blend in perfectly.

If you're feeling adventurous you could always catch a bus to Exmouth Market and go to Medcalf, their steak bavette is very very good or the Easton do really good food as well.

If you want to stay around W1 then you could try The Carpenters

I also blend in, so long as I wear my plus fours and don't speak. 😀

The Craft on food

We haven't got a full pub menu, but we serve the most amazing pork pies, scotch eggs and alike.

Budget? If you dont mind going largeish Yauatcha is stellar Michelin starred Chinese in Soho. Not cheap but not a rip-off either.....memorable.

Two places you cant book but are great Soho stalwarts are Randall and Aubin, and Cafe Boheme.

http://www.randallandaubin.com/restaurant.html
http://www.cafeboheme.co.uk/

R&A for seafood, Boheme for steak and chips and lashings of red wine. Think you can book next door at bohemekitchen.co.uk.....sister place, I've never eaten there. Both will be busy tonight but you can chill out at the bar with a cocktail until a table comes up.

Walk round to Kettners after for post dinner drinks, lovely old place, favourite of Oscar Wilde, open till 3am.

Mcboo-might be a bit rich. Up to £35 a head probably....no idea what that gets in London. That gets top top nosh in Yorkshire......

Tapas style did seem a nice choice though, but don't mind any good food.

Satsuma at the bottom of Wardour street is a great Japanese/noodle joint, very relaxed, you can stuff your face there for much less than that.

Walk down Charlotte Street on the way south.....its a lovely spot, bars and restaraunts all the way down. Cross Oxford Street to Soho Square and you are into the madness. Wardour, Frith, Greek, Dean, Old Compton, Broadwick, Berwick, Brewer Streets are where you want to be.

I went out on a non-descript Tuesday night a few weeks ago and it was so busy you could hardly walk on a pavement.

Big thanks to everybody but esp mcboo. Great time had an just on the way home.

Friday night - started with the two most expensive pints I've ever had at the Booking Office Bar which was fantastic!!! Soho and Fitzrovia, brilliant pubs (think the bricklayers arms was our fav - landlord was great) and superb and cheap food at Satsuma (R&A was queuing out of the door) and late night French pastries!
Today - Natural History museum, lots and lots of walking, coffee cafe life, Craft for a couple, the back to Betjeman for ales, bowl of chips and black pudding scotch eggs.

Awesome time.

Ah great, glad you had a good time.....Satsuma is a winner. All round Soho at night is great fun, you just find a spot and watch the freak show.
