Two day trip coming up - thought about Rain Forest Cafe but the prices there are p*ss taking! Anything vaguely central that might fit the bill and not break the bank? I'm ready to spend more than usual given its centre of town but £17 for meatballs and spaghetti is not happening!

Thanks

Sophie's in Covent Garden is very kid friendly. (Don't take bookings, though, but go early and you'll be fine!) http://www.sophiessteakhouse.co.uk/menus

Oh, and let them know it's a birthday...They do it well!

Rainforest would have been my suggestion, it is what it is but kids do generally love it. I think if you have a look around you'll see the price for a plate of Spaegetti in London won't be much less than £12 anywhere, restaurants pay high business rates and property rental costs plus the staff need to earn more.

pdf - anything really, chinese and indian excepted.
CF - looks interesting
jam - agree Rain Forest would appeal to them but there are limits and that place goes above and beyond! Planet Hollywood was another option and does 2for1 offers with train tickets.

The kids do love Rainforest, adults less so....

Giraffe has good food, else possibly Ed's?

Have a look on kidrated.com might be some help. Big Easy on the Kings Road or Ed's Diner have always been popular with my lads as a special treat and not expensive.

Rainforest was my immediate thought - was good as a one off treat. Presumably they will only be 9 once?

Rainforest cafe is an abomination and has no right to be so popular. Dark, dank, crammed in with cold, ordinary food. A triumph of marketing over substance. Grrrrr.

ordinary food

If only it was that good.

For burgers try Five Guys ... on the corner of Long Acre and Garrick St... meant to be the best burger in town.

Byron burger - loads of locations in London . They do a really reasonable kids menu and the milkshakes are amazing!

My kids love it there. We normally combine a visit to m&m world with byron in Covent Garden.

My 11 year old enjoys Vapianos. Pizza/Pasta/Anti-Pasta Platter style stuff cooked/prepared to order in front of you so you can ask for specific pasta type/shape, more garlic, less chilli etc. Its interactive and a bit different and the food seems good.

He enjoyed the freedom of speaking to the chef and using his own card swipe card (you are all given a card when you arrive and use it to order your food at the chefs station. Each card is then be paid for at the end of the meal)

Quick update should anyone else find themselves in similar need - went to Sophie's and very good it was! Sunday roast was £17 but kids eat the roast for free! We ended up with 5 kids so pretty good deal for Covent Garden!

Veggies should look elsewhere though!

Always massive queues there - is it actually worth the wait?

CFH - thanks for the recommendation! Our only veggie didn't eat fish either! We didn't try the 'steaks for sharing' but they might get a go next time!
