You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Requirements: -
For 10 people, three generations so must be kid friendly
Central - Covent Garden area or reasonably close by
Not crap
Not seafood
Not 'exclusive' either! Good food at prices that won't bring tears to my eyes
Early evening 6-7pm ish on a Sat night
I know a reasonable Chinese place so looking for other options
Cheers
We recently ate at East Street - just off Oxford Street nr Tottenham Court Road. I was very impressed at the quality of the food and the very reasonable prices. However it is more 'cafe' than restaurant so the table turnover is pretty quick and it's not a place to spend hours relaxing and chatting.
Not a bad shout, the relaxing thing might be needed though - not in terms of quiet, more being able to sit there without feeling pressure to move on. Will try that place another time though.
Da Mario, endell Street, is nice and probably does a pre-theatre deal
Masala Zone is ok, if you're on a timescale...
Feng Shui Inn on Gerrard Street is ok, a friend of mine spent a month of lunchtimes working out the best cost/ food/ happiness ratio of all the restaurants aroundthere and set on that one.
Browns fits the bill perfectly.
@cb - I would certainly try it sometime as it really was good (and we spent less in there than we would normally on eating out in Harrogate (a meal for two of starters, mains and a cocktail each was only £55). I think I went after a recommendation off here actually.
45 Jermyn Street or Colony Grill Room at the Beaumont
Big Easy Covent garden would be cool http://bigeasy.co.uk/#home
As would Benehana's - very entertaining juggling-knife-chefs in Piccadilly - watch the vids. https://www.benihana.com
Both contain but you don't have to have fish.
What about Braserie Zebel, that could well work.
Princi - Wardour St.
Will check all of these out! Thanks all!
You could look at Bathazar in Covent Garden itself. There is fish on the menu but other stuff as well. I've only ever used it for breakfast or brunch though so not sure what it's like at night.
+1 for zedel, it's huuuge, so should be easy to get a table. There's a foxlow on golden Square too, which might be worth a look
+2 for brasserie Zedel, we were there on NYE and paid £75 for 3 courses, 2 people, Inc drinks (no wine) and service chg. Food pretty good as well, plus awesome atmosphere.
suggestions?
Never, every use the word "eatery" again
I'd be looking at the following for something a bit different in that area
Tokyo Dinner
Starbucks reserve - its really quite nice and different from normal Starbucks
Honest Burger
The Wolsely - not that expensive if you only drink water! The Schnitzel is lush.

I would also highly recommend Brassiere Zedel in Piccadilly Circus. We went there on Boxing Day with a big group - excellent food/general experience and prices are not eye watering either!
Thanks all - some useful ones for future here as well. I'm booked into an Italian place. I couldn't get into aP's suggestion of Da Mario but they recommended this alternative. We'll see but it sounds good.
Will update if its a winner!
BTW the guy at Da Mario couldn't have been more helpful, he was full but went out of his way to get us into the other place. I'll be trying Da Mario next time!
Browns fits the bill perfectly.
but not the one in Shoreditch...
Byrons for the Oreo milkshake, still better than the others...
