Heard Bunce and Costello talking about Lomachenko last night and eulogising about him. Just watched some YouTube highlights, wow he is amazing. Fastest 3 weight world champ. Really extraordinary stuff
He really is something else. Seen him fight a few times and have been really impressed.
People talk him down a bit because he complains to the ref a bit. He took several low blows in his only loss as a pro to Salido. I think that put him on his guard about that crap.
Hopefully get to see him in the flesh one day.
That's more like it! "Wow!" The stoppage of Linares had me shaking my head in disbelief.. .nobody saw that final shot!
(He did do a bit too much "hey ref"ing in that fight too, to be fair.)
Whinging boringingly about what weight class he is fighting at is just blah innit.
His footwork is incredible, just creates angles that they dont see coming which opens up the temple/chin/ribs so quickly.
Interesting (for a change!) from the US commentary saying that he was prevented from boxing at a young age and forced to do traditional dancing. Not sure how true, but if it is, it kind of explains the footwork 🙂
There's some truth to it. I think the story is his dad made him take ballet before he boxed. However, this is from Bob Arum, so the truthiness of it is... well... you make what you want of that.
