I enjoy running around Richmond Park as it makes a change from the usual pavement pounding.

In the milder weather it was fine to cycle down in running kit, lock my bike, do a lap and cycle home. Now it has become cooler, I could do with having some layers to put on for when I finish. I did it last week and was pretty chilly at the end in my tasteful but undeniably revealing vests+shorts combo.

Does anyone know of a place where you could leave a bag securely with kit in within the park? I can think of perhaps one option nearby, but it's outside of the park. Ideally, I could do with a locker in the cafe by the Roehampton Gate, but appreciate this maybe too much to ask.

Just a thought and I doubt it is possible but could you blag a locker key at the golf course?

I just leave things on a saddlebag attached to my bike when I'm off running. I figure it is unlikely that anyone will come along to nick my spare jumper.

On the mountain bike I'd just bung it in a rucksack in a carrier bag in case of rain and lock that to the bike.

When I go swimming I often leave everything in a bush / under a tree or somewhere, sometimes including car/bike keys, money, phone etc, and have never had anything nicked.

Anyone who is bad enough to nick your jumper off your bike is probably going to nick your bike anyway, so i don't worry about leaving kit on the bike if I'm leaving it somewhere the bike is unlikely to get nicked.

Running there and back is not really an option on a regular basis as it would make it a 20 mile loop. Has to be done at some point though to see if I can!

Unless I'm running from work I avoid wearing a rucksack. A major appeal of running for me is the simplicity and lack of any hindrances.

I think Joemarshall's idea is the best. Old tracksuit bottoms and a jumper in a plastic bag tied to the bike should be safe enough. I used to stow stuff in a tree in the summer evenings when there were fewer people about, but it tends to be a lot busier at the weekend so I expect I'd be spotted.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I was sat near Hove lagoon and a woman turned up with a new Beetle got out in her running kit, locked the car and carefully put the keys on top of one of the front tyres and off she ran.

I left a note pointing out that a) I'd seen her do it and b) you could actually see the keys as you walked past the car.

If you're really worried then pannier rack and a lockable motorbike topbox?
