What's the etiquette for collecting fallen sticks/logs in a public park?
Park near me has a couple of fallen trees was going to pop along with saw and axe to help out the council tonight!

no it's stealing, and as the council will recycle it like all green waste (chipped and composted in huge heaps, then resold to you), so it's not going to be "wasted".

Its most definitely not 'eco' and not going to waste. It'll either be recycled by the council or allowed to rot and be a habitat for wildlife. It is theft, but pretty low down the blaggard's scale.

Whether you believe it is 'acceptable' stealing or not, it's stealing and the your noisy neighbour will no doubt report you...

cause you know stealing some office consumables from work, doesn't hurt does it, but it still can get you fired.

No ones saying "don't do it", were saying it stealing, there can be consequences.

Just ask the owners they may be more than happy for you to tidy up for them. They might not. In some environments the land managers are deliberately trying to create habitat by allowing fallen wood to stay put.

You can feel that if something has fallen off a tree its fair game, but certainly in the woods that surround me someone has already paid for any wood that falls, so fallen wood can already belong to someone other than the landowner.
